Two things. firstly, as chuckie put it:

has anyone read ''tour de life''??
Secondly, I'd love a few good cycling books. Especially of two types
1. Behind the scenes type
2. Historical narrative type. just telling the story of past races, the more detailed the better.
But I don't know of any good ones. Any suggestions?

there's one in Dutch from Mart Smeets about the breakaway in the tour that won with 30 minutes or so the whole book is about that break and what happends, mostly about the Dutch rider. Oh, and they allso tell something about the dope they all took I loved that book. |

cant exactly remeber. half the book was some kinda live report from the stage, and the other half was about a reunion from the actual riders because it was 10 or 20 or 25 years after it.
one thing I do remember is that the Tour's organizers tried to get the pack to work by offering money to teams if they would chase, but they didnt

Actually, there's quite a lot good books in Danish, written by Jørgen Leth. Also, there's one very detailed book about doping in cycling, written by Lars Werge, a Danish journalist. I don't know if they have been translated to English, though -- I doubt it.
"I don't care", I hear you say. Well, I haven't really ready any, but if you want a good laugh then you seriously need to look at this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Positively-False-Real-Story-France/dp/1416950230/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202666918&sr=1-24

I don't care. As I said, I want something I can read and preferably that falls into one of the two types I mentioned above

If I was an editor i'd make sure there was an "accidental misprint" and all the copies of that came out with just the 8 first letters of the title

There's a yearbook comin' out by Bernard Callens, a Belgian. It's said to be quite complete as a yearbook. If you feel like trying one, this could very well be an opportunity. |
