... to de-register (i.e. not participate) in UPT races with a UPT team? In the same way one can de-register for the other kinds of races? I'm in January and I can't see yet if that's the way things are ops: |

pro tour teams ride all pro tour races, as in real life. |

Then explain this for me. After deleting several UPT races from the database, I have ended up with a total of about 130 racing days in the UPT. 130 = 21 for the Tour de France plus 21 for the Giro plus etc. etc.
In each race I need 8-9 riders. That means 130*9=1170 racing days for all my riders. If you divide that by 30 (the maximum number of riders allowed), it comes to an average of 39 days of racing per rider, every year. With World Championships, National Champ., etc. = 42 days.
But after 40 days of racing per year racing fitness decreases. ALSO not all my riders are levels 3 and 4. So those who are levels 1 and 2 need to take part in smaller races (.1, .2 and .HC). There is simply not enough time for that. |

I agree cyanide made a mistake but setting the 'max' to 50 days... (then your race condition goes backwards). If you look IRL, rider do 70 race days easy. but yes, some of your riders will have to race more then 50 days and so have less race condition... |

It is not as terrible as it seems. You just have to plan your season properly and peak for the few races that your leaders will want to win. Otherwise I would win many, many races with the likes of Contador, Dekker, etc.

I usually schedule my team with the idea that I'm going to ride several riders into the ground.
For example... let's say you are racing with Discovery and using Hincappie as your prime rider in early races (when most of the cobbled races are).
Later in the season he can ride as a support rider... even though he's way over his racing days and his fitness is only in the 70's. You aren't using him to win... he's just filling a spot.
I generally have 8-12 guys who focus on early races (april and earlier) who then act as support in later races. You only need 2-3 guys at top form for a race. |

I'm sorry for sounding so angry a post earlier ops:. Since I'm a somewhat casual follower of cycling (Giro, TdF, that kind of thing) I had the impression riders had an easier time with races, scheduling, etc..
Well. What I ended up doing is using the small, non-UPT races as "warm-up races" before:
- the big tours
- a string of UPTs in which the same riders will be used.
If that warm-up race is a .HC, i select level 2 riders to accompany the veterans. If that warm-up race is .1 or .2, I select level 1 riders. Those level 1 and 2 riders will also end up being used in the "big" UPT race, simply because I'm out of riders and even with Astana I don't have enough lev.4 and lev.3 riders to use everywhere. Using some of the big-earners to fill spots in later races is an interesting idea B)
Of course, it's different for the Tours!
Anyhow, a more understandable race fitness and training fitness system would have persuaded me to buy PCM09. But this is off-topic.
Thanks to everybody for the patience and the advice.

I don't know if you've read it, but we do have a very detailed guide, explaining all the aspects of training and fatigue: https://pcmdaily.com/readarticle.php?a...ticle_id=9 |

A good idea for a future version of this game would be for in order for a day to be considered a "race day" the rider's form must be above 75 or 80. That way your Cobbles leader can race say the Tour of California, use it to build up his form and be ready for the cobbles season without being penalized for an actual "race day". |

instead, how about it's not a race day if he doesn't make a big effort?

I've read the training guide. It shows how fiendishly difficult the system is. :x I've settled for imperfect solutions, like "raise training % from 60 to 80 twenty days before the race and then to 100% ten days before the race". I want to play a detailed management game, not play Excel! |

Now that is a good point - and I think in the interview they've left a glimpse that this may change - which is good
