As is commonly known the new Pompeiana climb is not going to be used due to weather considerations and the old route will be used once again. Now has anybody played the new route with the Pompeiana (there's one version in the PCM expansion pack and Stylus and Ricardo also have designed the race with the Pompeiana as well) If anybody has raced it, what chances do the sprinters have of being there at the finish for a sprint or is the extra climb of the Pompeiana too steep for them? Also does the new route favour just classics men or stage race riders as well?
Just thinking about what riders to select for the race when I do it? |

Depends on how strong your team is. Personally, MSR (regardless of whether Pompeiana is in it or not) in PCM is pretty dependent on how hard you pace up the climb. If you have a strong team, you can shatter the pack or not do anything. I haven't gone for a pure sprinter yet, but usually I see a reduced sprint of 60 riders or so, simply because the attack system in PCM is very messed up.

The last two MSR that I've raced have been as Sagan and Cannondale and I finished second on both occasions. I was able to control the race on the final capos and the first time should've won from the 6 man break I was in, but inexperience with the game saw me lose out. The next edition Sagan was even stronger and broke clear on the Cipressa taking just Gilbert with him. I was 90% certain I was going to win the two man sprint but he came round me at the death to win. So on both occasions I had the strongest rider in a team that was able to control the race. Just wondering if on the Pompiana route I could ride the same way or would need different tactics to win?
I have some issues with the attack system of the game, out of interest what are your issues with it?

My personal issue is not neccessarily the attack system, but the fact that making splits is often way too hard.
So many times in Paris Roubaix, or RvV I saw a peloton of 50 riders just 30 kilometers before the finish, and at the finish, this would be like 20 riders still. Same for MSR, way too often I see the peloton of 150+ riders finish together.
I try to attack, toughen up the race and such, but it seems almost as if staying in the peloton is way too easy over hilly sections.

But doesn't this differ depending on what level you play the game. For example I'm still playing the game on 'Normal' and in general I get a good recreation of the races that I race. I know a lot of people on here play on 'Hard' which at some stage I should move upto as I've been playing the game nearly everyday for the last year or so.
Now I've never had the issues of the peloton still being together in large numbers in PR of RvV at all, but I've had them in the MSR and GW which of course is realistic. In the Ardennes classics I don't get the peloton either near the end but I've often got a bunching of riders like 12 to 15 all competing for the victory (it's like there's too many riders with top end hill stats in the game)
Always wondered what the real differences are as well between 'normal' and 'hard' in the game and if it is a major step up? |

On hard, AI stats increase with 5%.
I believe it's like this:
Easy -5%
Normal
Hard +5%
Extreme +10%
Spoiler E.g., AI rider with 80MO:
Easy 76MO
Normal 80MO
Hard 84MO
Extreme 88MO |

These numbers are most probably wrong. You can look it up in the local.cdb

I've won MSR with two riders - Boom and Gallopin on the route with Pompeiana. On both occasions I've attacked on Pompeiana and repeated the attack on Poggio and won from a Solo breakway twice with advantage of 45seconds at least. But where I was playing on the route without pompeiana there was always mass sprint finish from 80 riders peloton, and it was always Sagan to win it.
I haven't played PCM13 on normal because I've started to play on Hard so I don't know the difference

This is what I was looking for and what's interesting there is that you've won on the Pompeianaa route with riders like Boom and Gallopin that have hill stats of about 73/74 and with good acceleration of around 74 as well, much like the riders that won on the very old routes of Lombardy and Amstel Gold back in the 1990s. |

Should've made myself a bit more clear: By 'attack system' I meant AI attack system, as per usual. One rider attacks, he is followed by 10 other riders, consequentially, most of the front portion of the peloton tries to follow, and everyone is at 190 heartbeat for 2 or 3 secs. Then pace just stops.
