Right, here we go, the kickoff of the new transfer topic. After waiting in anticipation for a month or so, just to get a transfer item that is significant enough to start this year's edition, we finally have our ice breaker!
As per tradition, this year's topic is made earlier than last year, one day to be exact
So what's the news?
Peter Sagan is reported to have signed a contract with Oleg Tinkov. The deal supposedly includes bringing the Cannondale sponsor on board of Tinkov's team as cosponsor, for 6,5m Euro per year. This would also mean that Saxo and Specialized will be dropped as sponsor, and the question that immediately comes to mind is what will happen to Alberto Contador, who has a personal contract with Specialized.
It is reported that Astana didn't want to pay 4 million Euro for Sagan, which is what he wanted it seems.

That would be one of my dreams coming through, by Sagan and Kreuziger riding together in one team.
Only thing that i dont like is certain Mr. Tinkov. Well, he would finally have his champion on board, when everybody tends to disappoint him.

That's some nice cash. Almost as much as a mediocre football player.
I wouldn't like to see the team become Tinkoff - Cannondale though since that would mean another team disbands. And as for Contador: Isn't it more or less sure that he signs with Alonso when the time comes? That means that Tinkoff has to look out for a new big name anyway. Might as well go for Sagan, the currently biggest available name.

What Shonak said makes perfect sense
He said (I think) it makes sense for them to get Sagan, not that they should, I think he knows they have |

Peter Sagan has reached an agreement to ride for Tinkoff-Saxo in 2015, according to a report in Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Although it sounds very official until the deal is confirmed either by Sagan or Tinkoff I'll still tread it as a rumour.

Sagan's Agent denies Tinkoff-Deal
Peter Sagan’s agent Giovanni Lombardi has denied that the Slovak has reached an agreement to ride for Tinkoff-Saxo in 2015 and said that negotiations regarding his future have been postponed until after the Spring Classics.

The thing to keep in mind here is that if Lombardi were to confirm the deal, Sagan would be breaching UCI transfer rules.

Nobody will do anything. When Brailsford announced in April that they had an agreement with Hagen for the following year, did anyone do anything? No
When Bruyneel complained about Vanmarcke signing with Garmin, saying 'I had a deal with him back in may' and Vaughters pointed out that was outside the window, did anyone do anything? No

Not really, when you look from a financial perspective. I don't know how much he costs, but I bet it isn't cheap. |

Sep Vanmarcke extends with Belkin through 2016.
Great for Belkin to secure him for the future so early in the season.
