I'm trying to open a save with Lachis Editor, but now and then I get an error message saying that it can't locate a certain file. The filename is the name of the save just with dumpout. at the end.
If I open another save, or a weekly save everything works fine, but this happens eventually on every file.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"
There shouldn't be a file with dumpout at the end. There is a file called dumpout.cdbe, do you mean that file?
If that message appears, when you "extract cdb", the save might be broken.
My editor uses a tool from Cyanide to unpack the database. If that tool encounters a problem, it aborts without creating the dumpout file.
Or maybe you have a special character in the file name?
Try another editor, for example the fast editor, maybe that one work.

I could try something, is there any problem with renaming a save file? Overtime I've had to access the weekly save, meaning the name of my current file is quite long.
Is there any problem with naming it something else, for example "Project2100", provided I give the same name to all three files; cdb, cdb~ and cdi?

And you don't have to care about .cdi and .cdb~ files. .cdi files will be created by the game, if missing and .cdb~ files are backups, so these will also be created during game play.
Thanks, I tried using a weekly save, but I got the same message again (can't find <name of save>dumpout.cdbe).
When I look in the Data-folder in the Editor I see some of the folders have a cdbe-file in them, the ones it worked for. Pity, the save works fine, but it was very handy using the editor for checking age of retirement etc. for my story.
