February 2014 - Nominations
PCM 12 - FDC DB - One-Rider Story - 87 Posts This Month
Summary: Hello, my name is Anthony Louveille, you might already know me for my two years with FDJ.fr, but now I'm riding for the Dutch Team Giant-Shimano. New team means biggest responsibilities and bigger expectations and as I had some issues with my university program, I had to start my season in late July. My first race was the Tour de Pologne, I had not planned to be in good shape so soon but my second place in the General Ranking gave me many confidence in my abilities.
You may check out my thread to see what happened at the Eneco Tour, it has been an amazing race for me and for the team.

Summary: Act 4 this time around. Having taken Karl to the edge (quite literally) last time this Act, Saving Grace, was again a very personal side of the story as learned a lot more about some of the main characters. For another Act there are some difficult and dark topics, but done so with tact and without too much of that distressing detail.
From the edge of everything Act 4 charts his slow progression back to normality. There are some perils along the way, and it almost all falls apart a couple of times for him. Ultimately the Act ends on a cliffhanger (which btw was my favorite arc to write so far with a lot of hidden jokes and references) where things could go in almost any direction.
Now delving into Act 5 it's still going strong at 127 Scenes! Nominated for the "4th" month in a row (5 in a row for TMM!) it must be doing something right. Easy to keep up with or get into the story using the "On Demand" service provided in the front post along with the key info on Karl.
Summary: This is only here because sutty68 didn't sent in his summary for Novo Nordisk. Seriously don't vote for me. I mean it. Well, you can if you want but then I won't be able to win next month when the story is more than likely going to be coming to a end. Let it go out on a high.
I repeat again, don't let The Comeback win. You'll regret it later.

Summary: In Gora Euskadi!, we follow young Journalist X while he accompanies World Tour Pro Cycling Team Euskaltel - Euskadi throughout the season. The multi-layered story offers deeply focused race reporting, basque cycling fanaticism and personal, humorous touches.
During the last month we saw Gora Euskadi! cover the entire Vuelta from start to finish. With two riders in the Top 5, 4 stage wins and the team classification it has been one of the most joyful Grand Tours for the basque team. But there has been success besides the spanish roads as well: Gorka Izagirre triumphed in GP Plouay and thus tried to match his brothers Ion win at San Sebastian, but obviously didn't quite manage that, because the entire basque country is still fanatic about Euskaltel's first win at their home race.
Meanwhile, the newly re-established Socio Movement garnered much popularity amongst the international fanbase of Euskaltel – Euskadi. It gives the team strength for the late campaign in 2013 and for the upcoming challenges.

Summary: Radenska is a story that follows little Slovenian team in their journey to become one of the best teams in the world. Very ambitious, i know.
After we successfully finished our 2013 season and got promoted to PCT, which was huge surprise, we're now entering 2014 season. Team got some new guys such as Felline, Mohoric, Brandle, Pliuschin and somehow, by coming of new sponsors, saved it's leader and some of the biggest talents in the world - Pibernik/Polanc duo. Team already started racing with GP Costa della Etruschi and our newcomer, Fabio Felline got 5th place there. We're currently in February and are preparing for one really tough challenge, Vuelta a Andalucia.
By the way, the team got wildcards for Milano - San Remo , Giro d'Italia and Il Lombardia so stay tuned and you should see alot of fun.
Honorable Mentions: Team Novo Nordisk, Fabio Melani | Road to Le Tour

New Story of the Month - Nominations
PCM12/13 - Daily DB - One-Rider Story - 86 Posts So Far
Summary: They told me: Racing is life. I admit: winning is more.
aCross the road allows a deep look into the mind of young professional cyclist Raphael Visconti throughout his career in Cyclo-Cross and Professional Road Racing. He is currently under contract at Cannondale and Cannondale Cyclocross World.
Being still a youngster, he starts his professional career in the cyclo cross ranks at Cannondale in late 2012. Following his first season on world elite level, he experiences his first small successes and the early bitter defeats in the filthy, glorious mud of the competitive Cyclo-Cross races.
Vicious hills, dangerous cobblestones, elbow action. From crashing in the breakaway to freezing your fingers off. All day long in the rain, for what? Just to carry your bike like a newly wed. Getting caught in the final sprint, breaking belgium domination, chasing all day long your opponents, not being able to hold up, not being significant at all… All of this turns into lessons as he tries to accustom to his new life as a professional cyclist in the peloton.

Summary: Joel Wallin is a 23-year old Swedish fighter. After his former team Novo Nordisk – SAS got new management Joel was thrown out of the team having to find a team fast to be able to continue his career. Fortunately the local luxury spa Ystad Saltsjöbad was eager to help and decided to pay his salary with the Swedish team Fiskars Cykling. After having spent the first few month in the shadow of Gunnar Grönlund Joel stepped out in the three-day stage race Bornholm Rundt where he won the mountain jersey after a lot of brave all-or-nothing attacks that almost ended up as nothing after a hard crash.
That has proved that Joel Wallin really does have the heart of a true fighter and it should be the start of his career’s reboot and his ambitions of taking the throne left empty after Voigt’s retirement.

Summary: Legend is a little different. It started with the fifth tenth stage of the 2013 Tour de France. It follows the story of Veteran cyclist Jurgen Janssens. The Belgian is fighting for the win in his last Tour de France. Jurgen is a cannibal, good at everything but Time Trials. He takes the lead, but them his hotel is attacked by terrorists. He was later killed along with Damiano Cunego. He was post-humosly awarded the Yellow Jersey. ESPN then bought the rights to a documentary called the Belgian Legend. The 1998 season will start soon.

Summary: If there is one word to describe Take Down, it would be unique. In most stories, you follow the life of a young cyclist, and his attempts to succeed on the big stage. This story, is the opposite. It is centered around a different idea, one of sabotaging the team and preventing any good results, in this case it is Sky. In the process of this strange goal, a lot of fun and laughter is found on the way. This is what is presented in Operation Take Down. It is impossible to describe everything in such a small space, but I hope you enjoy this change from the norm and I am honoured to be nominated for this.

Summary: After a strong and emotional first season Jak came out with a hard choice in trying to decide who his first pro team would be. The decision came down to a local and a national team. Team Budget Forklifts and Team Drapac Cycling were the 2 teams that survived the cut off's but it was Drapac that was chosen. With his new team Jak set out to full fill his dreams and become the best Australian cyclist ever. He started off with a great 4th in the Arthur's Seat Challenge and didn't stop. He got a 14th overall in the Giro de Sardegna and an 11th in the Vuelta a Murcia. Jak is proving to Australia who he really is, if you want to join in and watch the newest up and coming Australian, you know where to go.
Honorable Mentions: BMC, Peter Sagan

The summary for Comeback was one of the best pieces of persuasive writing I have seen, and thus I am tempted to vote for it...
But I won't do it, it wouldn't be too fair as I haven't read too many stories lately

So that's Back-to-back-to-back-to-back nominations for Karl (plus Yearly awards in December) and back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back nominations for myself (going back to Roule Britannia). Two records for me
I think everyone should vote for The Comeback and then watch as Mre drags it out for another month just so it can go out winning. We don't want it to end, and now we have the power

Great that i am nominated, but to be honest i don't have any chances here. Reaching Top3 will be really good aswell, but with my current reporting/updating speed, even that is hardly achievable.

Just two people to submit their rankings so far, so I guess that means the rest of you are catching up on your reading.

Won't vote, because I'm in it, and even though I think Karl should win main Story, I want to keep the symmetry in vote numbers |

@Hobbit - I voted for New Comp only. No reason why you shouldn't vote for Main story and not the other one. Neither score is related to the other, and you never now your vote could be the deciding one between "4" months of no wins and "5" months of no wins

Thanks for double nominations Mre and TMM.
While I pretty much knew which stories I vote for in both categories (including write-in nominations) the order was a bit difficult. Felt like some/many stories had a sort of transition month, where they were either taking it slowly or were just building up pace.

It's been a little quiet here in the last few days, anymore votes out there?
Everyone counts because both competition are decided by less than 3 points right now. Voting ends tomorrow at midnight USA EST.
