The Costa Rican Championships are soon to be started and the pressure is on both one rider (Amador) and one team (Banco Nacional de Costa Rica)!

Local team BNCR has the pressure to keep Salas in contention for the road title and with 7 of 10 riders on it's team, the mission is clear.

Amador (UBS) - clear favorite for the timetrial, too - may fear both Salas and Brenes (VW) the most. Plus him being all alone in his "team".

And that's something "new", actually: the Costa Rican team apparently went for a rather high pace in the first lap(s) and suddenly we see no attack, but a split in the bunch:

5 BNCR-riders (including Salas and Esquivel) somehow dropped the remaining 5 riders (including Amador and Brenes) and establish a decent gap of 4-7 minutes in the following laps!

It's really a weird race today, as we do not see one single attack, but the two groups just pacing a certain speed..

..the latter group was - in a way- led by premium climber Amador, who kept the gap under 7 minutes with only 10km to go.. he drops his companions that way and is doing something like a solo-pursuit..

Too late though. Amador narrowed the gap to less than two minutes quickly, but finishes behind the BNCR-group, that secures their leader Salas an easy (and tactically somehow brilliant) victory!

Yes, this was always going to be a one-man-show for Andrei Amador, who crushes the competition by almost two minutes on runner-up Raabe to at least get himself the TT-title.
