Welcome to the Swiss Nationals, which promise to give us two competitive races for the two road and time-trial titles. We begin with the road race, where we see a tough hilly course over 200 kilometres long.
We see a startlist with some big names, none more than Cancellara who's the big favourite. He faces a battle against UBS though who bring 10 riders across two teams and the others here.
As the race begins, we see a group of five go up the road containing Santaromita, Tschopp, UBS loanee Schelling and Kung.
With two UBS riders up the road, the big Swiss team doesn't want to chase and no-one else does either, including Cancellara! The break's gap soon balloons over ten minutes!
The gap keeps growing over the day, and with 50 kilometres left it's gone out to over 30 minutes. These four will contest the national title, it seems.
The two UBS riders Santaromita and Tschopp work together to set a high pace as the riders hit the penultimate climb. This results in Kung being dropped, meaning the Swiss champion will ride for UBS as Schelling is owned by them as well. It's just a question of which one.
Onto the final climb with less than 10 kilometres left, Tschopp puts in a dig on the climb, dropping Santaromita and Schelling!
But Santaromita manages to ride across the gap as the final downhill is hit. Schelling's well behind, so these two will likely contest it in a sprint!
Santaromita is leading the sprint begins, into the final 1000 metres!
He can't hold off Tschopp though, who comes through on inside of the final corner to take the Swiss national title! He'll wear the national jersey next year.
In the end, only the four breakaway riders finish as the rest abandon due to being too far back.
Next we have the ITT, which gives the riders a 40 kilometre flat course to contest the title on. Cancellara is the overwhelming favourite, having the biggest time-trialling reputation of the riders here.
Dilier sets the best time early on for UBS, 54'51", which holds the lead with two riders left.
Schar is the penultimate rider to leave the starting house. As he reaches the intermediate checkpoint he takes the lead, but there's a Spartacus coming...
Cancellara even manages to pass Schar during his effort! At the finish he blows away everyone else's time, stopping the clock on 52'03".
