In 2008, Tinkoff Credit Systems won promotion to the ProTour after topping the CT division. They became Wikipedia, and the Tinkoff brand disappeared from cycling until 2011. Now in this team's 3rd year, they too top the table and promote.
Also promoting after 3 seasons is ING Cyclcing Project, who take 2nd place, trailing by 113 points. The next two teams found themselves in unfamiliar territory this season, having been in the ProTour since the start of the game. Both Vueling Airline and Bouygues Telecom have bounced back strongly, to return at the first attempt.
Holding on to 5th after a great start to the season are Rothaus-Aegon. They led for a long time, before Tinkoff took control. With the ProTour expanding to 22 teams, both they and the 6th placed Team Bpost earn promotion in their 2nd season. Bpost's cobbled strength was enough in the end, despite Gautier's unreliability.
In the end, Gautier came good. His Japan result keeps them above VolksWagen-Mapei by 8 points. Volkswagen and also Prio-Porto must wait to see if any ProTour teams disband, to allow them to promote - VolksWagen for the 1st time, Prio for the 2nd.
Vespa take 10th place with their final victory, while HTC are crowned best new PCT team, just ahead of Metinvest. Meiji and Sweadbank tie for 16th place - nothing has separated them over the season - while Oz Cycling beat Evian by 15 points.
More close finishes see Pivovarna Lasko take the last Top 20 place from Alstom-RBC by 6 points, while Cisco end only 12 points ahead of Amex. The most important small gap though is the 28 point cushion that UPC have, above the relegation zone.
The unwanted honour of being the first teams to relegate from PCT goes to Repsol-Cativen, Team CSC-Orbea, Team WWE, LukOil-Rostelekom and PFG-Armavia. Three of those five missing out by less than 100 points. A close battle, but they can no doubt take inspiration from Vueling and Bouygues, and look to bounce back.

And it is the double for Tinkoff, as Timofey Kritskiy is crowned King of the ProContinental division with a clear victory in the Individual rankings. Thomas Dekker, Rein Taaramae, Danilo Napolitano, Aleksandar Flügel and Maxime Vantomme all crossed the 1000 point mark. Of those, only Napolitano rides for a non-promoting team - evidently Evian need to find some more depth in strength next year!
In terms of promotion, there is nothing to confirm for now. The list of known team disbandments posted later will reveal the first number for CT teams that will promote - so stay tuned for that.
Top of the table is of course Team Gazelle. They end the season with a 1-2 and that pushes them past the 3000 point marker. 12 overall race wins for them.
Iberia put up a good fight to take 2nd - at one point early in the season they had more ranking points than any other PCT or CT team.
Kappa-ENI take a solid 3rd, having been well placed all season, while Magna-Ryanair's late run was able to usurp Allianz-BMW from a Top 5 position.
Privatbank and Mobil secured Top 10 positions, with Kenya Airways missing out in 11th. MTN then lead a group of 5 teams down to Boeing-Vivacom, all closesly matches with barely a 100 points separating them. They all passed the 1000 point marker, so can at least be happy with that.
The wooden spoon goes to ANC Halfords, but of the more active teams, it is Team Credexbank who are lowest placed, behind Sauber-Petronas, in 20th.

The Individual Standings were considerably closer, and came down to the final month. Iberia's Daniel Moreno is the champion, holding out ahead of Pieter Weening and Gert Steegmans.
Gazelle ended up with 4 riders in the Top 10. If you can do that, it's no surprise that you win the team standings!

Sponsor Goals: Top 5 - HTC Nieuwsblad, MTN, Die Berg Komt Er
Going into the final race, it looked set to be a battle between Metinvest and HTC are the top of the table to decide the winner. And then along came Bouygues Telecom. Metinvest had a good race, but Roelandts and co has an insane race, and Bouygues become African champions. But still, Nolan Hoffman was able to hold off Jurgen Roelandts to take the Individual title.
Of the teams with African interest, Jaguar take 6th, Kenya Airways are an impressive 7th, and MTN finished 13th. Besides the South African winning the standings, other top African riders were Ben Nasser (12th), Ngue (29th), Ndbri (30th) and Niyonshuti (40th).

Sponsor Goals: Win - Hollister; Top 5 - Repsol-Cativen, Team WWE, Alstrom-RBC, Prio-Porto, Sram-Riboxx; Top 10 - Team BNCR
There's clearly a gulf about to open up in the American tour races as with the disbandment of Hollister, who have now won the America Tour rankings for the past two seasons. It was already a popular division for goals though - and to their credit, Prio-Porto, Repsol and WWE all joined Hollister in achieving their target.
Repsol have the addition of taking the Individual Rankings title with Andrei Kashechkin - his Tour of America win being particularly significant here - as he beats Tour of Vancouver winner Kritskiy.
Top American continent riders are Alarcon (7th), Ardila (11th), Nicacio (18th) and Zabriskie (23rd).

Asia
Sponsor Goals: Win - Evian; Top 5 - Cisco, Meiji, Oz, Armavia; Top 10 - Sauber, Risa
The most competitive regional tour, with plenty of interest in it throughout the season. Japanese squad Meiji-Cannondale were not helped by the interfence of JK Cycling in the transfers window, but that has not stopped them claiming the Asian crown. They were too much for Evian in the end, while Oz came through for 3rd in front of Cisco. Big congratulations too to Sauber-Petronas, who achieve their Top 10 goal.
Aleksandr Efimkin takes the Individual title, in front of Allan Davis and Jianhua Ji. Michael Rogers made it into the Top 10 after winning the Herald Sun Tour. Other prominent Asian riders were Masuda (17th), Alizadeh (21st), Shimizu (25th), and Iglinski (31st).

Europe
Sponsor Goals: Top 5 - Tinkoff, Vueling, Sweadbank, Kappa; Top 10 - Rothaus, Metinvest
It's hardly a surprise that winning the overall division translates to winning the European Tour, and Tinkoff have done just that. Rothaus gave them a close fight in Europe over the season but must settle for 2nd, with Vueling 3rd. All 3 achieve their goal while Sweadbank just miss out. Still a very good efford for the Swedish team to do so well, taking 6th. Kappa also did very well to make the Top 10.
There's no double for Tinkoff, as Thomas Dekker defeats Timofey Kritskiy in the Individual Standings. Lars Boom is noteworthy in 6th - all of his points earned this year came in Europe.
11th is decent I guess, average. Was hoping for a lot more though after an amazing first few months. August, September and October were all horrible for us.
Last thing to hope for is our top five in the Africa Tour. Not a goal, but would be a nice thing to achieve.
4th is about where I expected us to be. It's nice to see that a team without puncheurs can do so well overall. Arroyo's 12th place is a real disappointment for me, I really thought he would be at least top 3 when I bought him. We were just a bit too unlucky at the start of the season.
Just like Froomedog I'm waiting for the Africa Tour as well, to see if we got a top 5 there, but I'd highly doubt it.
Now waiting to see if we can get a license for next season. Grats to Tinkoff, Gazelle and all teams that reached their goals!
Fantastic season for us, to be in Top 15 when relegation scrap was expected is tremendous. Hopefully we can improve upon that in the coming season, and a new sponsor is likely to take over from Nieuwsblad. 2/5 goals achieved plus other 3 were close is also nice achievement.
Well done to ask the promoting teams, hard luck to all the relegating.
Well that is fantastic news and justifies me sitting in front of my computer all day refreshing (seriously it has been about 9 hours that I've been doing that now). This went completely down to the wire and it is hard to imagine it being more tense. I hope that VW get into the PT, after all of the great results I feel that they deserve it.
Quite happy with the last races, which let us finish this season rather safely on 18th place. Guess our TT-power and general not-too-shabby depth paid off then. Like last year, we had no one in the individual's Top-50, which is a shame for both Rogers and my planning (to be fair. But i'm still shocked by his total let-me-lose-25 minutes Tour of Czech disaster).. It was always going to be a transitional year though, with some of our future hopes being loaned out. Guess we will again see a lot of changes in my team, as Peraud, Visconti or also Lloyd or Rogers ain't must-stay's at Oz.
Now looking forward to the regional ranks, where Asia may give us or only achieved goal.
Great!
Before the season I would have taken the 5th immediately. Now after this season I feel like I could have reached a bit more with some more luck. Bellis in Beijing or some better stage results without a weak sprinter stopping Bellis/Geschke to sprint. Planning mistakes.
But so it`s even better to see that the top6 will promote for sure. Congrats also to the others and in especially Bpost, who had a close fight with Volkswagen in the end for that confirmed spot.
Planning for Pro Tour now is absolutely new to me as I actually had plans for 2014 already, which were for PCT though.
At least I have lots of free cap to think about some of the top free agents.
Woohoo!!! No I hope just 8 teams will promote and then it's time to own the CT next year. If more teams promote I fear we will promote, relegate, promote etc...
Manager of Team Popo4Ever p/b Morshynska in the PCM.Daily Man-Game
Quickly checked the pre season rankings and compared them with the final rankings.
I think Rothaus, Prio Porto, Sram, airBaltic, Meiji or even Tinkoff might be the teams, that did (much) better than expected.
Bintang!!!, CSC! the teams that couldn`t fulfill the expectations.
I expected relegation and so to say I'm happy is an understatement. Now to rebuild completely and look towards the top 10. Roll on 2014! Edited by jph27 on 16-02-2014 17:32

Damn I just did the exact same thing But yeah as Smowz has been saying all season, Bintang has just been a huge failure.
The funny thing is, in hindsight, there's really no reason to have predicted Bintang that high. Their big plus was Alarcon, and he was outgunned by the influx into the division of Kritskiy, Dekker, Pozzovivvo, Taaramae etc
Anyway, I declare Smowz the winner by a Pearson Correlation score of 0.70 to 0.66!
Nice to see the season has now officially ended, at least for PCT and CT. Congrats to all managers, wether they managed to promote or just missed out, it was a very entertaining season to follow, wether it was Gazelle showing who's Boss in the CT division or Hagen bringing home the prizes for Norway, ember and B&O. So yeah, congrats, and may 2014 be an even better season! (And may i be part of it too )
To everyone promoting: Have fun in ProTour!
Especially happy to see ING (thanks for VDB!), Rothaus (way to go!) and possibly VW (don't you dare using the extra cap space on you-know-who!) going up.
Nevertheless congratulations to everyone else as well of course, you deserve it.
To everyone staying in PCT and of course all the promoting CT teams: here I am! Prepare to plan for second place!
