Inspired by the Jerseymaker's monthly contest, here is a new type of competition, similar to said contest. It will be a competition for the best and the worst of stage making, anyone is welcome here. The only prize is honour, and possibly a banner designed by someone more graphically able than myself.
The competition
It runs In a similar fashion to the Jerseymaker's competition, in that there are 2 competitions.
Competition 1
This is where you post the stage you are most proud of this month. It doesn't necessarily have to be finished even, just 1 stage or two will do. Here is the best way to post your race.
Race Name:
Country held in:
Race Type: (eg. Hilly stage race, flat classic)
Additional info:
Spoiler
Pictures of the stage and profile, or link to a presentation in your thread.
Sharing link for race files:
You may submit as many races as you want, and into both categories. You could submit all work you've done, it will only further your chances.
Category 2
Here is a bit different. In this category, a specific race will be chosen for you. You will then create a stage based on that. It will likely be fantasy, but there may be some options for real races. You have complete freedom, only bound by the name, so it does not necessarily have to be from said country.
These races are all in one particular continent. South America. They will all be used in the CACl DB, soon to be released, (when enough stages are made). I see this as a mutually beneficial agreement, you get a chance to have your work published and recognised, while I will get help with my DB. This is also a way for anyone who wants to to help me out a bit, which could always be appreciated.
All race creation options will be found in Post 2. Submit stages in the same way. Again, you may submit multiple entries.
The Judging
To judge, you will PM me your scores in a similar fashion to this.
(Stage) - (Stage maker) - (number of points)
The points system is relatively straight forward. You may give as many stages as you want, up to 5 points, 5 the best, 0 the worst. This means you could give them all 5s, or 5,4,3,2,1, or anything in between. You may only do this once. Judging can be done in two ways. The easy way is to examine the pictures and report, and decide which one you like best. I would recommend the other option as it is more thorough, but also more time consuming.
Alternatively, you can choose to download the stages and play them in pcm (or view with stage viewer and then vote more comprehensively. This is much better and more accurate, but we leave the choice to you. I would recommend not voting so highly if you haven't downloaded it, but you can if you want. When voting, take into account things such as Graphics, Gameplay and Realism, as well as your own factors.
Example entry (real one too)
Category 1
Tour de Eden
South Africa
Mountainous stage race.
An 8 day race through scenic South Africa, from the bays to the mountains, and everything in between.
Sounds like a good idea, I assume that's for the competition two guide? If so I'll definitely use it. It's nice to see some support, so I hope we'll get a few entries. Thanks
