Champion System Pro Cycling Team appoints new manager

Champion System Pro Cycling Team has appointed a new Directeur Sportif after a disappointing start to their season. The Dutchman Film Maker is the man for the job. Maker, a failed cyclist himself (the Mont Ventoux took him over 2 hours!), is said to have been a Pro Cycling Manager since 2005, with varying results on several cycling teams. Never has he been in a position like this before though, building a team from the ground up so to say.

Although the Champion System Pro Cycling Team job does come with a full roster, the results so far have been utterly disappointing. Maker´s first task will be to scout for and sign new young talent, which is even supposed to be the new leadership of the team. Maker is said to already be scouting in the U23 division, trying to add talent to the Champion team in order to compete at the highest level at least in the Pro Continental division, which seemed to have been flooded with new young talent this season and increased in quality competition.

The team will be looking for talent from all over the world, Champion being a culturally diverse team, with several `exotic´ cyclists from East-Asia as well as riders from the more traditional European and North American cycling nations.

Prologue | 01 Signing a Contract

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/rk001_zps18a015c8.png

Hello my name is Rajesh Kakhi and I am happy to announce that I just signed my first contract as a professional cyclist. When ProContinental Team Champion Systems offered me to ride for them I couldn't believe what just happened and didn't hesitate before signing. It is risky by the team to sign an unknown rider from a country that is not big on the cycling map but I won't disappoint the management!
Here I will have my blog at least until the end of this season to keep my fans up to date and tell them about my experience of Professional Cycling. First I would like to introduce myself and I will tell you my story how I got this far, right from the beginning when I stole my first bike.

...more to come!

Prologue | 02 My first Bike

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/rk002_zps15761143.png

I was raised in the city of Bangalore and it first seemed like I would continue the family tradition and would become an excelent thief. I must say I was quite talented. But then it was one day, March 15th 2002, two weeks before my 13th birthday, that would change my destiny. Me and my fellow pickpockets spoted a group of British tourists riding on a bicycle through the city, a pretty rare observation in my hometown. We followed them, facing our goal of getting us these bicycles, as we could get a lot of money for the steel they consisted of. When they rested and drank tea we took our chance. It was easy to crack the bike locks and each of us took a bike and we were of. We carried them as we didn't know how to use them.
In the following days we all tried to learn how to ride on the new acquired bicycles, but we failed. The others gave up, but I tried on and on and one day I was able to ride the bicycle. While the others selled the components on the black market to get enough money to buy food, I kept my bike against the will of my family. To me it was the best feeling to sit on the bike and just ride and escape the troubles of everyday life. I wouldn't give that up to easy.

Prologue | 03 Getting an Upgrade

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/rk003_zpscb29999f.png

Cycling got so important that I decided that I want to earn my money with it in the future. The others just laughed at me, but this had a positive effect, as it boosted my motivation even more.
I needed an upgrade, A tourist bike wouldn't bring me far. I decided to steal a racing bicycle from the Bangalore Bike Shop, here were the best bikes you could get in entire India. It was a risky plan as there were video cameras everywhere. So I decided to bring my plan in the night into action. My friend Hari supported me whereever he could, he was quite helpful as he was an excelent hacker and was able to deactivate the burglary alarm system, so I could get without much trouble in the store. Hari told me that my time was limited, as the alarm system had an safety mechanism and would reactivate itself after roughly five minutes.
I cracked the lock of the back entrance with ease and squeezed through the half-open door. Now I had to be fast, I went to the area with the road bikes. There were so many, it was really hard to decide which to take, I somehow wanted to take them all. Finally I decided for a bike that was painted tourquoise, the letters on it said "Bianchi". I've never heard of it before.
I took the bike out of it's stand and made my way to the back-entrance walking the bicycle. Just when I was about to reach the door the alarm bell started to ring...

Prologue | 04 Facing the Goal

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/rk004_zps9a0cb4c1.png

The sound of the alarm bell went through my entire body. I knew of course that it wouldn't be long until the police was there, as I was in the center of the city. When I openend the backdoor I could already see the police lights on the horizon nearing rapidly. I just got on my new bike and started pedalling, which wasn't that easy with clickpedals and my running shoes. Finally I got it working but the first police car was already behind me.
The "Bianchi" Bike was much lighter then I ever expected a bike could be. Riding on it felt like flying. In the end I could shook off the police but I can't remember how, as I was too much focused on my new precious bike.
That bike would bring me far. Almost every day I spent several hours with it on the hills outside the city without neglecting my actual job of being a thief. My prey brought in as much money as the ones of the others. My talent made a career as one of Bangalore's most infamous thiefs still an option I really liked. In that time I could still focus on both cycling and stealing, but the day I had to decide which of these would be the content of my life was nearing!

...more to come!

Prologue | 05 Being on Track

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/rk005_zpse4c8417c.png

One of my cousins was known to always bring a paper and read about the latest news, he was also the only one who could decently read. One day, I was 16, he found something he really wanted to show me. It was a track competition that would be held in Bangalore. It was made by Indian Cycling Federation to get more people interested in cycling. Everybody with a bike could take part at the qualifications for it.
I immediately decided that I would take part. The rules were easy, 16 competitors riding against each other, 20 laps on the track. Track was never my main goal, but this was the first bike race I ever took part. I was surprised by how easily I made the qualifiacations for the final. My entire family came to cheer for me. That was one major factor at helping me winning the race. That moment, when I crossed the goal line at first, two rounds in front, I realised the first time that I was indeed quite talented and could accomplish my goal at becoming a pro cyclist. The Indian Olympic Federation would offer me an internship for that.
After the race a man named Yogeshwar Kunar introduced himself to me and afterwards asked me a question that would change my future. Kumar was part of the Indian Olympics Assiocation and a big cycling fan, also the organisator of the race I had just won before. He has the dream to establish India as cycling nation. He asked me if I wanted to become part of the Indian Olympics Sports Academy and so make cycling the main content of my life.
I was sure I would agree, but that meant leaving my friends and family and moving to Delhi.

Prologue | 06 Fulfilling my Dream

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/rk006_zpsb2449bdc.png

A week after I had won my first race I called Yogeshwar Kumar, because I made a decision. My parents told me it was my decision, they knew I was a talented thief, bringing a lot of money to the family, but they now also knew I was a (even more) very talented cyclist, maybe also earning a lot of money long-term. After a long talk with my family and my friends I decided to join the academy and prepare myself professionally for a future as a professional cyclist.
When I arrived at the academy, I noticed early I was the only cyclist there. The most sportlers there were cricket players. I became friend quickly with my roommate Ajay who played badminton on the academy. I would stay at the academy for four years, also improving my school skills. I focused my training on short climbs, as that was the profile I also rode on back in Bangalore.
One day I got a call from the manager of Champion Systems with an offer for a contract for the 2013 cycling season.
That's all from my past. The next time you'll here from me showing you my season schedule!

Champion System riders can now also make their own schedule, provide races and total race days please. (and hurry up if you want Trentino or Gold Race!)

Anybody else find it extremely funny/frustrating that this guy signs a ridiculously OP rider (De Vries) and then disappears.

So now he gets to dominate the CT without even being here Rolling Eyes

Season 1 | 01 My Race Planning

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/rk101_zps8be37921.png

I finally got my race planning and I will be taking part in three races in the next season part. The first one is already my biggest race. I will lead the team in the Netherlands for the Amstel Gold Race, where a wild card application was accepted. I aim for a Top 20 here.
The other two races are both five day stage races. The Tour of Norway and the Ronde van Belgie both constist of four flat sprint stages and a hilly stage. In both I will go for a top ten overall placement. My hill abilities will be crucial for that. On top of that I also plan to contest the sprint stages.
I will bring you up to date about my perfomances once the racing begins for me!
