Ten teams battle it out over this heavily mountainous stage race in Colombia.
With the only two races left on the Americas C2 stage races it is expected that the effect of this and the stage race in Utah will have on the Continental Americas rankings will be minimal. Team WWE are here with their expensive youngster Dombrowki with an otherwise experienced team along with Alstom who are led by Canadian climber Salas.
The real battle here though is likely to be for C2 Ranking points both in the team and individual rankings. Star names such as Arroyo (Die Berg), Moreno (Iberia), Samual Sanchez (Iberia), Menchov (Barcelona) and Rohregger (Magna) grace the startlist.
It is worth keeping an eye also on local riders such as Rodas (MTN) and Roman (Mobil) who should like the conditions along with BCR's Costa Rican pair Esquivel and Rojas Villegas.
I haven't mentioned any Boeing riders yet - they are led by their Bulgarian climber Georgiev he'll no doubt be looking to get his name high up there on the Colombian climbs.
The race has included some absolute monster climbs some over 50km will really hurt. The last two stages though finish with steep alpine style climbs - not sure how the last stage is rated hilly it looks quite mountainous!

Neither Colombian in Colombia, makes sense... I'll look at this as a chance for Georgiev to redeem himself following a miserable Tour of America. Really don't expect a lot though. Couple of breakaways at best frankly, really really lucky for a stage win.

Well that is certainly going to make it tougher to beat Iberia.

A top 5 would be awesome here.

Going to be an interesting race. Hope to get a stage win or two. We have high hopes with Rodas. It's his home race and the routes suit him well. If we can get away with one or two stage wins and a strong overall showing here, we might be a real outside chance for promotion. But of course, everything has to turn out perfectly

4th and 6th. I'll take that I guess. Looks to be Iberia festival tough. |

Iberia dominating again
Eagerly awaiting the next mountain stage. Putting lots of pressure on Rodas - a good performance might just buy him a house in South Africa and thus, a space on Project Africa for 2014
Kudos to Smowz for the speedy reports. Loving it!

No surprise there. Arroyo dominating.
Roman up to 9th. He should still be able to climb one or two positions so everything isn't over yet. |

Arroyo is pretty good at these mountain stages, isn't he!
Oh well, 3rd and 4th in the GC is very nice right now and we still have a chance at improving (but of course also losing those positions!)

Let's see... Attack early, get dropped, and burst. Bad Roman, altough hanging to 7th and there's still a chance of climbing tough. So no dumbness allowed! |

Good stage for us: Ihlenfeldt nice and aggressive, so too is Rodas. Hopefully we can still get a stage win and Ihlenfeldt is in striking distance for both the KoM and Best Young Rider jersey. If Rodas also manages to sneak up on the podium and get a stage win, this will be a great points haul for us.

Clasico RCN wrap:
Thanks for the comments, sparse as they were. Hope reports were not too brief, we have had a sudden splurge of reporter activity once more but seriously that is about all I have time for.
Iberia and Die Berg dominated scoring both weighing in with over 20 points per race day here. Moreno scored over 100 points here, this could possibly have secured the C2 individual rankings. Unfortunately Iberia's manager Spilak23 has been inactive for a long while after disappearing somewhere in Colombia ironically!
MTN score 56 points, Mobil 42, Boeing 26, Barca 79, BCR 39 and Magna an even 100 points. For Magna this was a decent race that could go push them close to promotion.
WWE and Alstom both scored below 6 points per race day. WWE are doomed to at the very least relegation, whereas Alstom could also be dragged down following a long fairly unproductive developmental race.
