The Tour Alsace starts with a flat stage.

They of course sweep up the intermediate sprints, but sprinters such as Lay, Dekkers, Lasca, Maksimov, Giacoppo, Tiainen, and Saramotins all showed interest in the 3rd place available at one of more the sprints.

Dekkers took 3rd twice, Lay took it once.

The break is of course caught, so a bunch sprint awaits. We have Iberia vs Privatbank!

Giacoppo, Dekkers, Tiainen, Demare, Saramotins, Ranneries and Lasca are also well placed.

Iberia don't have enough manpower, so only Privatbank remain.

Cardoso opens the sprint, but no doubt to their manager's dismay, Maksimov decides to ignore his teammate and start his own sprint very early - with 2.3km to go.

Only Tiainen chases after him initially, but inevitably, the others do come.

Maksimov ended up 8th, but it could be worse - Lay and Dekkers were nowhere despite excelling in the intermediate sprints.
