2nd mountain row in a row and it`s going up and down a few times. the circuit with the double climb in the middle, that is ridden twice might actually be the hardest part as those slopes aren`t very easy.
The final climb though lives more from its lenght as it`s rarely over 10%.
Still we expect a nice battle between the GC riders.
4 riders only in todays early break.
Laidler
Pirazzi
Voeckler
Oliveira
So nothing really dangerous GC wise as some helpers get the freedom to attack today.
Pirazzi, Oliveira, Voeckler on the first KoM. No interest though.
Similar at the next KoM. This time won by Voeckler ahead of Oliveira and Pirazzi.
Laidler is surely no climber at all as he prefers the flat time trials. So he is not even trying to get any points and usually sits in last during the climb to save energy for the flat afterwards.
4 Repsol riders lead the peloton ~3min later ith 60km to go. They did not allow a very big gap yet.
5 riders with an attack with 57km to go going up the Cat.3 for the 2nd time.
This time still not the best placed riders but some top30 riders.
Hudecek
Jiriakov
Stetina
Cabreira
Danielson
Stetina with the next attempt. A nice bonus of being back in the GC. Together with Danielson we have two US riders here, who finally want the win after being that close yesterday.
Voeckler, Pirazzi, Oliveira again but as you can see they are almost joined by those late attackers.
50km to go and Stetina easily takes the next KoM as he created a gap to the others with Cabreira trying to follow him. It`s almost 4min to the peloton now as the group clearly accelerated.
50s for Stetina at the sprint while the peloton is still not going very fast as the gap is up to more than 5min.
Starting the final climb Stetina is 1'16 ahead of the group and another 5'30 to the peloton. This is a huge gap now and normally this should be enough for the first win by a home rider. But going uphill you never really know as riders can lose their rythm from one second to another.
As said. The climb isn`t the most difficult in this race and actually we are already in the hardest section with 16km to go.
Also we see the first attack in the peloton:
Krasnoperov
Ratiy
Dyachenko
Gadret
Anton
So some of those who couldn`t perform at their best so far.
Krasnoperov though is caught again. He is just not having good legs it seems.
Therefore a more important attack as Kiserlovski goes.
But no matter who. They are all caught by Agudelo, who is giving everything for Kashechkin. This time it as Nicacio followed by most of the former attackers.
More or less only Repsol and WWE were relaxed today.
2min for Stetina to the group and almost 5min to the favourites. How can this go wrong now?
Kiserlovski with the next attack.
This time he is followed by Kashechkin as Agudelo obviously can`t chase them any longer.
Also in the attack are Anton, Ratiy and Krasnoperov. So eventually the 5 best climbers on the first look. Then again we remember the last few days and would decide different.
Stetina on the last 1000m for the 2nd time. He knows this feeling from yesterday but this time the gap is much bigger and he can already celebrate a historical win.
He knows that he will be in every national newspaper tomorrow. Every TV channel surely wants an exclusive interview with him now. After 2 unsuccessful years finally a home rider to win a stage.
In the end Stetina is delivering very nicely after losing in the GC on the hills.
1'34 later in the end Hudecek leads in the next riders ahead of Cabreira, Danielson and Jiriakov. Solid performances by those and all of them will improve a bit as well.
Kiserlovski was in the lead but then got surprised by a fast sprinting Kashechkin, who passed him quickly.
In the end Kiserlovski showed the faster sprint but couldn`t beat him. But as bonus seconds were taken already it was just to avoid a time loss, which worked in the end. 3'36 for both of them.
As next we have Anton, Ardila, Ratiy and Ochoa Quintero already. They are all 3'58 and lose ~20s on the duo but gain at least the same on the other riders.
Next group at 4'21 including most others like Vrecer, Pellizotti, Perau, Lowe, Nicacio, Dyachdenko or Gadret.
Biggest loss today might be Sergio Sousa, who loses more than a minute on the last group while sitting in 7th GC before todays stage.
(I hope there aren`t many writing mistakes...got a new keyboard today after my old one got hit by my coffee cup 4h ago. And I already hate my new keyboard with a totally different form)
