Race Horizon Park

Likely a sprinters race this one, though it is always nice for the fans to see a breakaway and who knows eh?

Four riders go for the long day out in and around Kiev.

Lobov (LukOil), Athanasindes (Privatbank), Stoenchev (Boeing) and Lindgren (Swedbank) are clear with plenty of Eastern European interest in there.

No games of chicken the pack as the sprinters teams are working together nicely.

Evian, Bouygues and Rothaus are doing the work here and they are the teams you'd really expect to with the top three named sprinters here.

They make the catch with 12km to go, which proves a wee bit earlier giving some riders a late attack idea.

That's Niels Albert (Bpost) doing what he does best, home favourite Lagkuti (Metinvest) jumps after the Belgian.

These two are joined by Thomas (Boeing) on the last climb of the day, however as you can see they really are not getting much of a gap if any at all.

Albert does keep at it though, through to about 3km to go where he has to give it up. Subsequently there is no real sprint trains and the lead sprinters are just left to duke it out.

Roelandts puts down the power with Vantomme, Napolitano and Avelino following. Behind these four...

Sutton is leading Krasnov as they scramble to follow these super sprinters.

The likes of Rowe, Hoffman and Lorenzetto have got themselves in a woeful position. Hoffman actually was trying to attack away in the latter stages so it could well rule him out of the sprint here.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a7_zps458fcf0b.jpg

Into the last 1500m, Vantomme and Napo have kept with Roelandts and now look to pass.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a8_zps83dcfd89.jpg

Sure enough they both smoke the Belgian chump in the last klick.

Napolitano proves the best rear gunner as pulls Vantommes trick on Vantomme.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a10_zps94c627a5.jpg

He takes a welcome win for Evian.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a11_zps0e2cf3f5.jpg

Vantomme finishes a credible second and once again crap ass pundits comment over how he has been far better this year than last. Lorenzetto recovered like a bullet to snatch third over the ambitious but failed Roelandts who takes 4th just ahead of Kunshev.

Some riders will have pleased their managers with nuggetty results, MTN with a nice C2 raid for example. For home teams Metinvest and Privatbank it was sub par with 15th and 17th the best their sprinters could manage.
