Barredo, Leukemens, Possoni, Parra Bustamente, Schroder, Gerrans and Zampieri are the breakaway.
With their lead at 6 minutes, 5 men attack from the peleton.
Carrarra, Mercado, Caruso, Gomez Marchante, Caruso and Mazzoleni.
They set about chasind down the break and Caruso and Carrarra were soon dropped. They caught the lead riders from the break, Parra Bustamente, Possoni and Zampieri towards the top of the penultimate climb.
The lead group held around 3 minutes over the peleton at the foot of the final climb as Gesink launched the attacks.
Gesink was the strongest attacker today, while up front, Mazzoleni, Gomez Marchante and Mercado have dropped the breakaway survivors but arent working well together.
This is how the favourites' attacks played out.
Gesink, Fothen, Gutierrez Cataluna, Perez Cuapio, Zubeldia, Vinokourov, Mancebo and Rujano are in the lead chase group. Dekker is the biggest name missing and is in the next group with Sanchez Gonzalez, Kloden, Bruseghin, Arroyo and Danielson.
With 3km to go, Mercado is dropped from the front group!
And Gomez Marchante is soon putting the pressure on and starts to pull away from Mazzoleni.
But the big guns are closing in too! Will they catch thed two leaders?
Nope! Gomez Marchante takes the stage!
Mazzoleni is 2nd while Mancebo just edges Zubeldia to take 3rd.
