Because there's a thread for every other game (GTAV, FIFA14), I think F1 2013 deserves a thread as well. I hope there's still someone who bought the game after GTAV and FIFA14. Well, I did. I pre-ordered it and I got him friday (for PC). I've played around eleven hours on that day.
I think the game is even better than F1 2012. The graphics are better and the races are more realistic. The AI makes more mistakes and there are sometimes crashes at the start. So the racing part is much better.
Last year there were some problems with the AI. The differences between the difficulties were too big, so f.e. the intermediate was too easy but hard was too difficult. That's better this year. When it's too easy you can make it a bit more difficult. And now there are five instead of four difficulties.
There's also a Classics part. I thought that's split up for Playstation and Xbox, but for PC it's in the game. Although you only have five cars and two circuits to race on. You have to buy the other cars and circuits on steam. But it's a nice part of the game.
As always you have to start your carreer at the Young Drivers Days in Abu Dhabi where you learn the basics of the game. On day two you can deserve contract offers for your carreer. You already have offers from Marussia, Caterham and Toro Rosso, but when you've good results you can get offers as well from Sauber, Force India, Williams and Lotus.
I started my carreer at Sauber. I did the whole race weekend include a 100% race. A new thing in the game is that you can save your current game progress. So if you can't do a whole training/qualifying/race, you can save it and continue the next time. I was third in the first Free Practice. But no-one gave everything, because I qualified myself as 13th (on expert, only legendary is the higher difficulty). During the race I had a lot of problems with the Pirelli's, but I did very well (in my opinion). I finished tenth, while my teammate Hülkenberg finished fifth. Well, the results aren't very realistic so far. Alonso on pole. Hamilton won the race, in front of Rosberg, Grosjean, Vettel Hülkenberg and Webber.
The strange part is is that there's only one Free Practice in the Carreer Mode. In F1 2010 you had all three, but I haven't found the other two here (yet).
There are also scenarios in the game. Last year it was with the six world champions scenarios, now there are more different scenarios. There are even a few in the classics mode!
And of course it includes the normal parts. Online racing, time trial, time attack (the best overall time over six circuits) and just racing a Grand Prix.
The classification in the online ranking is different as well. The last years you had xp and you could deserve that to achieve your objective in online racing or having a clean lap, and you could lose it when you had a collision. Now the ranking is just about race wins. So if you're always second, you're not high in the ranking. I think the xp ranking is better.
But it's just a great game, nothing less. I hope there's anyone esle who bought it, especially on PC. Then we can probably race against each other.

The release date for Europe was 4 October, for the USA it's 8 October.
By the way: There's a normal edition and a classic edition. The normal edition includes the 1980s content, but gives you the oppotrunity to buy the other things on steam (at least on PC) The classic edition includes all the classic contents.

I'll probably be picking it up for the 360. I have 2012 but they seem to have made enough upgrades to make 2013 worth buying.
On the Free Practice. In Since 12 there has only been FP3 available (not sure about 11), and back when 10 came out, one of the big complaints was that you had 3 practice seesions, and nothing to do in them. Testing for parts was completed in one section, and you could comfortably set your car up after 5-10 runs (due to the simplistic yet effective UI). So they cut them it speed up weekends. It worked a treat (unless the weather changed overnight, then you were f*cked).
Of course it won't be perfect yet, and patches will come. At least that's what happened for the last three versions. From what i've seen it certainly looks almost perfect out the box, which is a nice change from Cyanide
Classics Mode looks nice, and will be good for an hour or two. Having to purchase the 90's extras is a bit much frankly. And the lack of cars makes GP's small and it looses something as a result. Also the difference in cars makes them very unbalanced, with the later cars dominating races. The scenarios will help that, but again once you've completed them once, there is very little replay value. And i am not interested in Time Trial online stuff so even less value there. (that said i will still get all the extras for the lols).
I hope they've made the game harder, as 10 and 12 were far far too easy. 2010 i could win the WDC (and about 10 races) in an HRT, and 2012 i could win the WDC (and about 8 races) in a Force India. 2013 i expect to win the WDC again in a Force India or a Sauber or a McLaren, where this just should not be possible.
Also be nice if they fix the slightly dodgy Penalty System. Had some ridiculous ones in 2012 (the worst being crossing the pit exit line... WHILST UNDER AI CONTROL!) which ruined several races.
Also want them to get the tyre wear scaling correct. If i select 25% race i want the tyres to degrade faster forcing multiple stops and some actual tactical thought. And same goes with the fuel. There was never any need to use Cautious as a strategy, or to go to the Slow mix. A bit more of this would be good to see.
Will jump straight into the Force India (Young Driver Test is way too easy in 2012, won't have been changed i bet) for season 1. Probably play 5-6 races on Expert, then swtich up to Legendary, and win the WDC... Oh Codies, you are becoming very predictable these days

I'm waiting. I got F1 2010 and F1 2011 and it was buggy, so waiting for review before buying. |

I would recommend it. 2012 had sorted out a lot of issues, and is probably to most fun racing game i've ever played (massive massive fan of them). Even if there were no improvements from there it would be worth the investment.

That's the universal Sutty smiley, don't you know?
I skipped 2012 and I'm not sure if I can commit enough to the game the next months or so.
I'm rather the hardcore guy and try to do 100% races with barely any assist (okay, some replays, sorry, but I want to play this for fun, not to destroy my furniture ), so it's really time-consuming and stressful to even get through one race.
So I'll probably wait until Christmas and have some fun over the holidays with it

@cio93: That's why there is now a save function during the session. Then you can save it and continue another time. But it's a great game.
@admirschleck: Did you download the Classic version or the Normal version?

While I'm obviously quite happy that exists, I don't think I'll use it in-race.
For a practise session, fine. For qualifying, okay. But I already had lots of occasions where dinner or even a toilet break completely ruined my race as I couldn't get back into the rythm fast enough.

I understand, even after a pitstop I'm sometimes struggling to come back in the rythm.

Its not that simple though, because you'll just run the faster tyre for as long as possible before switching to the mandatory other set, which is the same as now. You should be able to make up 20 seconds over 60 laps. You shouldn't over 15. |

For those that have bought the 2013 game, what are your thoughts on it? I am really considering buying it, but I am kinda hesitant as I have 2011 and am still pretty much enjoying that. I have played 2012 as well, so a comparison to either 2011 or 2012 would be okay. I also want to know how much replay value the classic cars provide and if it is worth it to buy the Classic edition.

@valverde321: Well, F1 2013 is a bit looking the same as F1 2012, but of course there are things which are changed. The first post is already kind of a review from me. But when you're looking to the whole game, F1 2013 is better than F1 2012. I don't know on which station you want to play this game, but if you're considering buying it, I would advise to buy the Classic Edition. I have the normal edition and it is annoying that it's not really complete. With Steam I can buy the extra parts to complete my game, but for that I'll wait till it has discount. But the game itself is really looking to F1 2012, but I think the graphics are even better and also the steering is more realistic. There are also first corner crashes and things like that, so the opponents are more realistic as well. The online racing has changed as well and there are new scenario's (which are great), but you can read that in the first post. I think, when you're really enjoying F1 2012, that you should buy it. And I'll advise the Classic Edition. It's a bit more expensive, but then you have the full game. With the normal edition you miss some tracks and cars. I especially miss some tracks (f.e. Imola). But if you want to know more about the game you can go to YouTube where are many videos about it (of course). But personally I think that you'll enjoy this one as much as F1 2012.

I probably should have edited my post or something, to save you all that time of writing this, but I just went ahead and bought it
I love it too! The 90's cars are so much more fun to drive than the 80's cars, and the bonus tracks are better too! Personally Im happy to have paid extra for the 90's pack and tracks. I just wish there were challenges for those ones too!
