understanding sponsors

are your sponsors understanding to mishaps that might happen in the world of cycling? for example if di luca was to break his leg the month before the start of the giro would they still expect you to finish in the top 3? or if pozzato is 2 minuits ahead in the last 5k of the paris-roubaix and gets a puncture will the sponsor see it as a good effort or simply as a failure to win?

The sponsors aren't intelligent in any way. Results are the only thing that counts, just like cio93 said.

You could change the sponsors goals for your team to make it more realistic. For example if you got a rubbish team promoted into the protour after one year, and couldnt sign any good riders due to budget or whatever, you can change the goals from say top 5 in milan-san remo to top 10, to make it more realistic if you like.
