After 50 years of absence on the cycling scene, la maglia nero (the black jersey) has returned to the Giro. The jersey is given to the reversed leader of the GC and it'll already be handed out to its provisional "leader" after the first stage. It'll be fun to see riders actually compete for it.
I remember having heard of an episode involving the black jersey. One rider (I don't know when) deliberately rode so slow that he would finish last on all the stages, before a police threat upped his cycling pace

According to cyclist, it wont actually be a jersey though - just a number

Great news..that will be rider who still gonna finish that race. There is nothing to be shame about. If you remember 1988 Olympics..there was question who was most popular ski jumper Matti Nykanen who win almost everything..or Eddy Edwards who was always last. |

he would probably be disqualified because he would be accused of riding badly on purpose to get the black jersey

It's a fun idea, though, but it's good for Kaggestad. He would finally win a jersey .. if we set aside the fact that he rides for an unknown small Norwegian team. |

Eric was brilliant. It was the furthest he'd ever swam, and even though he won his heat, he was so slow that the stupidly slow cut off point came into effect, so he didn't qualify
