How do i create a circuit in stage editor?

I've created my route but everytime i try to join the road together it leaves a little gap. How do i stop this from happening and set it so it's a circuit and to decide how many laps must be completed?

I assume you are just using one road, making a circle which ends when you try and connect back to the first road point you place?

This will never work! (as far as i know)

All stages must be made up of at least 2 roads.

Simply make a small road (can be 2 road points). The make your circuit starting from one end of that shorter road and ending back at that road point.
Then like normal place route markers around the circuit. When you reach the first road point again a box will pop up asking for number of circuits and name of circuit. you can leace the name blank, and just input the number of circuits for the number you want to race

What were the steps? Where do you have the start and finish lines, as well as the starting and ending road points?

I can get the message to come up, but for my criterium of 2 laps x 6 km in length, the message said the length was 2 x 0.0 km.

As a general comment, with as many questions as there have been over the years on creating one. a tutorial by someone would be helpful.
