3rd and already last stage in the Delta Tour Zeeland.
And still so many questionmarks in the GC.
Flens still has his lead after the prologue, but quite a few riders have chances to steal it from him today.
Also some riders like Guillén, Kankovský or Keough should be extra motivated after their performance yesterday.
With 3 riders in the breakaway it`s again not looking good for the bonus seconds.
Kasa
Appleby
Villella
Villella (+34) takes the first ahead of Appleby (+28) and Kasa (+2'56).
So in especially the first two climbed a bit.
Same scenario as yesterday. MTN, Credexbank and Die Berg Komt Er share the work while Banco Nacional de Costa Rica isn`t doing anything.
130km to go and just 4'30 for them but still growing.
100km to go and up to ~6min, it`s Die Berg Komt Er alone at teh front, while the other two teams are sitting behind just in case of.
Petrovski and Kochetkov though are doing a good job just like they did yesterday.
Really bad luck for them now though. With Ostergaard their strongest helper for the final crashed with 46km to go and will miss his team now as he is going up too slow and won`t come back.
The starting rain really made it a dangerous course now.
2nd sprint and we have the same order. Villella is down to 22s now with Appleby being a bit better at 20s. Still no real danger GC wise, but they are still 2min ahead and could become one.
Yet another crash. It`s Uwimana, yesterdays guarantee for Abdallah`s win. Huge loss for the team.
The riders really need to be more careful as the roads are really wet and it`s not going to end before the finish.
25km to go and just 1min left for the trio. They still haven`t given up and try to attack...
...but no chance. 10km later all of them are caught by the MTN, Credexbank, Banco Nationale train.
So the sprinter teams have come to the front now.
2 trains only today with Guillén not trusting his own train and instead going behind Kankovský in the fastest train at the moment, while Fouche is taking over the job from Uwimana.
Also Keough is seen in a good position different to yesterday.
Actually most sprinters are here today except for the two Die Berg Komt Er riders Duque and Chavanel, which is a bit surprising as they did very well so far.
Siedler Fouche Clarke Ben Youcef Kankovský Abdallah Guillén Keough Dekkers Giacoppo Steegmans Lasca Gavazzi Barclay
2,1km and Clarke and Ben Youcef both start the sprint at the same time.
Perfect position for Kankovský, Guillen, Dekkers, Giacoppo on the right train and Abdallah, Keough, Steegmans on the other.
Ouch. While Siedler is hugely blocking all riders from the right train but his own teammates, it`s Fouche on the left blocking his own leader...
What a bad luck with the MTN train, which worked perfectly yesterday.
Also Lasca got blocked here while all others on that train keep their good positions.
Last km and Clarke is still in front but Keough on the left and Steegmans on the right come fast.
A bit behind Abdallah trying to reach his teammates wheel again and also Barclay and Guillén are coming.
One last corner with 400m to go and it will be a close fight as Keough took the lead but has the long way, while Steegmans has definitely chosen the better side.
Kankovský also started his sprint coming fast now just like Abdallah, who is proving his strengths once again.
How close.
In a photo finish between Steegmans and Keough we have a clear winner:
It`s the Belgium. Steegmans wins with a tiny bit ahead of Keough and Kankovský.
Actually we have also the same order here as in the final GC as all of them did very well in the prologue.
Flens falls down to 4th here.
Abdallah in 4th couldn`t climb more but at least wins the point jersey.
Chavanel (5th) with another good performance ahead of disappointing Guillén.
