Stage 5 is one for the sprinters, in all except the final kilometre, with a 5% uphill kick.
The sprinters slept through the first intermediate sprint. Ziesler won it, with Siskevicius 3rd. They were in it for the Points, but in 2nd was 4th overall Florencio. Some more ueful time bonuses for him!
Guillen and Peeters returned at the 2nd sprint, with the Costa Rican edging the win.
The only attacks all day came from Aaron Gate, just before the top of each of the 3 climbs, to extend his lead in the competition.
Sauber riders picked up all the minor points.
So into the final 10km then after an enthralling day. Slagter leads the field, with BNCR well placed.
But their organisation can not be maintained when the sprint trains drive on.
The sprinters are laid out as follows:
Silvestre Van Loocke Uugunbayar Morales Siskevicius Peeters Guillen Berger Koretzky Murray Nardin Ziesler Jorgensen Friedman
Silvestre won the leadout battle, and now Van Loocke looks to strike for victory.
Siskevicius on his shoulder, while FC Barcelona look dangerous on the right hand side.
Jorgensen takes the lead, but other sprinters are swarming.
Guillen is looking first, and he now moves in front.
But this is an uphill finish, at 5%, and Nardin now kicks hard from behind.
And he speeds through to make it 2 wins in a row!
2nd for Guillen, while Peeters takes 3rd - and there are two Cadburys in the Top 5: Murray and Renshaw.
Van Loocke faded so badly going uphill that he was re-overtaken by lead out man Silvestre!
Another comfortable day for Sauber - but Ashgarzadeh apparantely struggled. Dropped by the peloton for no apprante reason, he will fall down from his 16th overall position.
