Not as flat as Stage 1, with a big climb late on that could do some damage.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-1.jpg

Only the 1 attacker today, with no Armavian to join the interested Sauber rider this time: i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/spr_zps39a3252c.png Hugentobler

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-2.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillen took 2nd, and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/jkp_zpsd1d2e7e2.png Peeters 3rd at both intermediate sprints - bringing them level on time.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-3.jpg

And here things went weird. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/spr_zps39a3252c.png Hugentobler had already built up a big lead, and that went up and up to over 15 minutes!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-4.jpg

That was the gap to a 2nd rider, with a further 3 minutes back to the peloton. That 2nd rider is none other than race leader i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/jkp_zpsd1d2e7e2.png Peeters!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-5.jpg

There is 80km to go, and it has taken until now for the peloton to create some form of relay train. It does not seem like Peeters is riding hard, but it takes a full 20km to bring him back.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-6.jpg

By now Gregory Hugentobler - or Greogry as he is misspelt in the database - has a lead in excess of 20 minutes. Riding his first professional season, he won the King of the Mountains jersey at the Tour of Southland.

He reaches the start of the climb, 42km to go, with a 21 minute lead.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-7.jpg

And that was up to 22 by the top.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-8.jpg

The peloton have put up a pretence of trying, but they've clearly thrown up the white flag as far as this race is concerned.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-9.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cad_zps01f0e9d1.png Gate would lead them over the top of the climb, followed by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/gzl_zps14c119b5.png Duchesne.

The race radio sums up the situation:

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-10.jpg

And 20km later, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/spr_zps39a3252c.png Hugentobler has all the time in the world to celebrate a ManGame record - never has the margin of victory been so big!

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-11.jpg

The peloton almost wait until the final kilometre before doing something. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/arm_zps60f3d6b6.png Bikienga launches the sprint with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/jkp_zpsd1d2e7e2.png Peeters well place, but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/bcr_zps86f2c872.png Guillen further back.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-12.jpg

That does not matter though, as they do not feature strongly in the sprint. Taking 2nd is i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/gzl_zps14c119b5.png Nardin, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/fcb_zpse1da305d.png Florencio 3rd, and then i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/ekc_zps98eb3bbc.png Siskevicius and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/cad_zps01f0e9d1.png David.

i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/az/kor2-13.jpg

Hugentobler's gap? 19'38. Just falling below 20 minutes there, but no less massive!

There was terrible luck for Adira's lead out rider i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/aip_zps544721ca.png Mohamed Harrif Salleh however. He crashed late on, and finished a few minutes behind the peloton. Given the time gap to Hugentobler, this put him outside of the time limit!
