Joining road segments

I would like to join two parallel road segments to create a bend. How is this done?

If I understand correctly and you want to join them together you need to right click on one then right click the other however, this is likely to cause the dreaded

"Intersection with only two ways problem" so you will probably need to continue the parallel lines for the road to work properly.
