Teams entering Continental races
murfi
Hi everyone.

I'm a new convert to PCM and really enjoying the game and the helpful advice here on the forum.

In in my first season in a career game as Garmin and have noticed that none of the other big teams seem to be entering the Continental races (e.g. Bayern Tour, Tour of California). I'm sending "reserve" teams to these events and competing only against Continental teams. Is this normal in the game??

World Tour teams entered these races earlier in the season (Qaatar, AndalucĂa) but I did some savegame edits and am worried I might have messed something up...

Since ProTour teams are not required to race at conti events not all do.
The reason there is a difference between Quatar/Andalucia and the Bayern tour may be that the latter is (iirc )during the giro? While the former are early season so required to get into shape for the classics or Paris-Nice, hence larger turnouts and bigger names.
It is odd that California has few teams though, as it is often hotly contested. I think database tampering is unlikely to be the cause but it really depends what you were editing!

Glad to be of help(if I was!!)

I think its a bug where world tour teams don't enter HC events.

murfi
Thanks guys.
Yeah, wasn't sure if it was a bug or just that the teams were busy with the Giro (but if this was the case surely they still have 20+ riders sitting around doing nothing!). Checked a few other 2.1 /HC tours I didn't enter and none of the big teams showed up there either - Criterium, Sarthe, Panne, Turkey, Trentino, Norway...

I was thinking of editing so that 2-3 of the World teams would be "forced" to enter in order to make it a bit more realistic. There's only so many times I want to climb with Duarte or sprint it out with Heinrich Haussler!!

Only editing I did was to my budget and some contract expiry dates.

There is a bug with the latest patch where WorldTour teams don't enter Conti races from April - July. Hopefully it will be fixed in a coming patch.

A temporary solution in a career is to install Patch 1.0.2.0 at 31st of December, simulate to next season and install Patch 1.0.3.0 again.
You can try the same before starting a career, but I haven't done that yet.

Your local.cdb might be a bit messed up, so use the backup provided if there is one.

Thanks cio... so I need to wait until the end of my current season and then do that? In the meantime, just go along with it until its patched?

I found a table in Lachi's editor - DYN_team_race - that seems to enable editing, but I'm a bit hesitant to mess with this stuff. If I add further rows to this table to force teams to enter will that achieve the same result or am I playing with fire?!? Has anyone done this successfully?

Cheers everyone for all the advice!

Dyn_team_race works indeed(as long as you remove a team from the race when you add one), but you have to do that for +- 50 races each season, you really want to do that?

You can do it. Apart from it being time-consuming, it's easy and safe.

No need to add any rows by the way, every team already has one for every race.
The only thing you need to change is the status to invited.
Make sure no race exceeds 25 participating teams, the game will crash while simulating those.

My DYN_team_race definitely doesn't have rows for each team for each race. For example, I'm the only World team with a row for the Bayern Tour. So I guess I'll need to add a row. Anyone know what the number under gene_f_score means?

Just to clarify as well - do I definitely need to remove 1 to add 1 or only remove if the total number of teams is exceeding 25?

Not too worried about the time involved - if the problem is only April-July, and I'm only changing the races I'm involved in and only adding 2-3 teams per race, it shouldn't take too long.

Okay, I stand corrected Wink

I'm not at home, so if gene_f_score is at the far right, I assume it's a "how much does this team fit into this race"-factor that decides whether you get invited or not when applying for a race ingame.
Which means it's not important if you ensure the participation anyway.

That makes sense mate, cheers!

Well, Murfi
How did it go with the DYN_team_race -editing?
Did your season play out as it should or did "strange" things happen??

murfi
Currently halfway through the Vuelta and to be honest, its been a strange season. The Vuelta field is quite poor with really only Rodriguez and Valverde as competition for Talansky. For some reason Sky sent all their big names (inc Froome, Uran, Henao) to Eneco which I found a bit weird...

The editing worked fine though!
The Continental races were all a bit easy though. Even when I edited in three Pro teams to the races, they seemed to send weak teams and mostly weren't too bothered. For example, I won Burgos with a 1st stage break from David Millar gaining 8 minutes. Pack never chased! Only lost 3 on the last mountain stage so it laves a funny feeling of not quite deserving the success.

I'm only new to the game, but some of these bugs are ruining what is otherwise a very addictive game!

Well, usually (in other years) there are more stars than in real life at the GTs - so a bit strange.

Great!! That's what I'm gonna do too. Unless Cya shocks with a patch (unlikely)before I start my "official" season.

Oh man! Havn't seen that in a while.

Yeah murfi-man, the game is great but some of the bugs are real killers.
Thanks for the info!!!
