Its a hilly course. Cyanide favours Schumacher, Bettini and Schleck, while Im tipping Cunego. Boogerd will be in the mix of course, but he never wins.
Just one rider decided to attack, Arekejeev, a russian from France Televisions.
He was allowed a lead of up to 10 minutes, but then it came down and he was caught.
Before the actrion begins, have a look at French national champ Fedrigo. He is too embarassed to wear the Cycling24 jersey so is instead wearing the shirt of a Spanish continental team - perhaps hinting at his plans for next season and that they do not involve Nintendos.
With 45km to go, Paolo Bettini put in a sneaky attack at the top of a hill and got a little gap as the descent began.
Noone could follow him since cya-logic doesnt let riders attack the descents so Bettini went solo. His lead was never huge though and after 12km, Boogerd decided to join in the action.
Schleck, Schumacher and Cunego countered along with a Cycling24 rider.
Surely not.
It cant be.
Yes, its Rebellin! Unbelieavable!
They linkup with Bettini and must now go about catching Boogerd in a fairly similar scenario to the San Sebastien Classic (Where Boogerd was caught with 1km to go and Valverde won).
Some quick bursts from Schleck up one of the hills with 8km to go brought them closer to Boogerd.
And they managed to catch him - and dropping Cunego in the process!
Cunego is unable to rejoin and this is how things stayed. Schumacher will lead out the sprint.
And he still leads with 1km to go, starting to pull away from Rebellin.
But here goes Bettini, making his move!
Victory for Paolo Bettini!
Schumacher 2nd, Boogerd 3rd, Rebellin 4th and Schleck 5th. Cunego comes in 6th.
Jufre of Magenta takes 7th.
