The cycling season starts with this Pro Tour race (hahaha!), Tour Down Under. The race is probably as flat as it always is, and the riders present are not really top-notch (https://www.tourdownunder.com.au/2008/...8/?q=Teams) - but after all, this indicates the start of the season, so let's all be happy and hope someone broadcasts the race (or just the last 1 km of each stage) |

The startlist could have been worse - and I'd imagine Eurosport will have it |

Im actually thinking about buying a premium on Cycling.tv. Its not like danish television is going to show any cycling beyond Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold Race and Le Tour.

well failing all those options guys i'll be sure to post some photos of the race when i get back home from watching it. I can't say i'm too unhappy with the start list either given the timing/location of the race, at least the majority of the big aussie riders will be there! |

The TBA is a spot for the Australian champion should the new champion not be already riding in the tour. If he is, then that spot will be filled by another inform aussie rider.

well smoothie it appears lapthorne has done something now (albeit late on in his reign). Today he won the final stage of the bay cycling classic (billed as the fastest crits in the world, true or not who knows), an impressive win given the competition so at least he got to show off his jersey. Now if only Mick Rogers who is riding the Aussie Champs RR could win and take that final spot in the UNI SA team... |

Getting some form back to defend his title...before disappearing back into the midst of the peleton again...
Quite looking forward to this years TDU, especially now that I know I'll be able to watch some form of it on cycling.tv
P.S Go Rodgers in the national champs, we need a decent name on that startlist! B) |

Speaking of the Australian Road championships.
19 Takaeaki Ayabe (Jpn)
20 Takumi Beppu (Jpn)
21 Satoshi Hirose (Jpn)
22 Niko Merilainen (Fin)
23 Kenichi Suzuki (Jpn)
113 Evan Oliphant (GBr)
218 Karoliina Rasanen (Fin)
Why is there a crapton of non-australian riders? I undestand its an "open" championship. Buuuuut...

Go Oliphant!
None of those riders have any real chance of winning though. i doubt theyll be affecting the race too much.

Gordon McCauley rode the British Champs despite being a New Zealander, he came 3rd. But the guy who came 4th didn't even bother contesting the sprint because technically he was 3rd

yeah but that was due to the floods making one event cancelled, so they combined the nationals with a premier calender. you make the UK sound cheap or sumink we wouldnt let just anyone ride our champs ya know not like those Aussies
