Tour de France - Stage 14
CountArach
i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-1.jpg

Today brings us another big day in the mountains with a category one and two HC climbs. First up we have the Col d’Aspin, then the Col du Tourmalet and finally we finish on the Col de Tentes. This day really is a mixture of the old and new that modern Tours are starting to become known for – the Col d’Aspin and the Col du Tourmalet were both first used in 1910 and have been regularly used since then but the Col de Tentes has not been used in the Tour de France before at all. And here are the stats of these three climbs:
Col d’Aspin – 12km @ 6.5%
Col du Tourmalet – 17.2km @ 7.3%
Col de Tentes – 30km @ 5%

But keep in mind that the Col de Tentes is actually much harder than that over the second half of the course.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-2.jpg

The first attack of the day comes from i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/akm_zps175d5d7c.png Lars Petter Nordhaug (22 mountain points) and he is followed by three more riders:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Arnold Jeannesson (6 mountain points)
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/wig_zps5dbe18f9.png Mikhail Ignatiev (24 mountain points)
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wikipedia.png Brent Bookwalter (55 mountain points)

And no one else is interested so just like that we have our break of the day formed! It is particularly noteworthy that this is i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wikipedia.png Bookwalter’s fourth break of the race so far.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-3.jpg

Nothing of interest occurs until the break hit the Col d’Aspin, which snakes up ahead of them. From here it is only climbing and descending – no more easy rolling over flat land. The gap is out to 7’21” and it is i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Lotto working back in the peloton.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-4.jpg

In marked contrast to B&O, Lotto have a great team of climbers so leading the peloton up the Col d’Aspin are i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Monfort, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Moschella and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Duenas.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-5.jpg

Up front they get to the summit and no one is really interested in the 16 mountain points on offer, not even i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wikipedia.png Bookwalter who is the best placed in that classification. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/wig_zps5dbe18f9.png Ignatiev rolls over ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Jeannesson and then i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/wikipedia.png Bookwalter.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-6.jpg

And it looks like we are going to have a tough day on our hands as, with 1km to go to the summit of this first climb, three riders attack away from the peloton:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Igor Anton (+21’18”)
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/bac_zps18a68956.png Daniel Navarro (+26’08”)
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Rasmus Guldhammer (+18’51”)

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-7.jpg

Over the top the gaps are:

7’04”1’16”8’20”
Break--->3 Chasers--->P (152)

As we hit the Tourmalet, however, the three chasers have actually lost ground on the break and are only 46” ahead of the peloton. Clearly they did not descend well. Nevertheless all three of them work well on the easier early slopes of this climb and start to open up their gap over the bunch once again. The crowds here on the Tourmalet are huge!

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-8.jpg

Back in the bunch i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Monfort, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Lloret and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Duenas start to thin out the bunch and it splits almost in half – only 88 riders are left in the first part of the bunch.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-9.jpg

Up front i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/wig_zps5dbe18f9.png Ignatiev rolls over the top first once again, taking the 20 points. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Jeannesson and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/akm_zps175d5d7c.png Nordhaug are the next two.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-10.jpg

Perhaps seeing the success of the chase group two more riders attack out of the peloton. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/mil_zpsb1abc362.png Nepomnyachsniy and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/akm_zps175d5d7c.png Augustyn are those two. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Abal then bridges up to them not long after.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-11.jpg

Over the top of the Col d Tourmalet here are the gaps:
1’18”4’53”48”6’59”
Break--->Gr. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Guldhammer--->Gr. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Abal--->P (79)

Oddly i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/akm_zps175d5d7c.png Augustyn sits up and is brought in by the bunch. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Abal and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/mil_zpsb1abc362.png Nepomnyachsniy struggle to extend their gap without any more help. The Col de Tentes starts with 30km remaining and over this gentle initial slope the i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Lotto train increases the speed, with some help from i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pen_zpsd6e38272.png Faiers. With 23km to go they catch i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Abal and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/mil_zpsb1abc362.png Nepomnyachsniy.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-12.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Abal clearly wants to get away as he attacks again with 19km remaining. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/kng_zpsafcfbe9d.png Pedraza follow him.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-13.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cobo manages to control this attack, however, and it doesn’t get anywhere.

But this clearly kicks things off and so it is now time for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Brajkovic to launch an attack. Once more i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Abal follows.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-14.jpg

In fact i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Brajkovic isn’t the only one from his team to attack as up front i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Jeannesson also kicks away from the break. This only drops i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/wig_zps5dbe18f9.png Ignatiev. The break now has about 1 minute on the group of Guldhammer and another 2’40” on the peloton.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-15.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Sicard is the next one to attack and he bridges up to i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Brajkovic. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Brajkovic attacks again when this happens, dropping i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Abal. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Sicard follows the Slovenian.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-16.jpg

But what’s this? 4 more riders attack p to these two. They are:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pen_zpsd6e38272.png Faiers
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pen_zpsd6e38272.png Kohl
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin
And race leader i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego!

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-17.jpg

This attack is controlled by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/kng_zpsafcfbe9d.png Pedraza which is fortunate for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo, who almost missed a key moment there.

Up front i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Jeannesson has finally succeeded in dropping the rest of the break and he still has about a minute on the group of i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Guldhammer which is trying to come up to him. This happens just before the 10km to go mark, which marks the start of the hardest part of the climb.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-18.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin now launches yet another attack from the bunch and this time he is followed by i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Kangert. But i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Kangert can’t get a gap over the bunch – only i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin can.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-19.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/kng_zpsafcfbe9d.png Pedraza now launches an attack of his own and he goes past i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Venchi.png Duarte joins i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/kng_zpsafcfbe9d.png Pedraza. The bunch is well and truly into the harder part of the climb now and the remnants of the bunch is thinning out.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-20.jpg

Finally, after a pursuit that seems to have lasted forever, the group of i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Guldhammer finally catches i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Jeannesson and are now at the head of the race. They only have 1’20” on the peloton now, though, which has caught i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Venchi.png Duarte and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/kng_zpsafcfbe9d.png Pedraza. Perhaps realising this i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Anton attacks away and makes a solo bid for stage glory. There are only 6.7km to go.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-21.jpg

The next attack comes from i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pro_zpsc5cfa503.png Velits, with i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/Venchi.png Duarte unsuccessfully trying to follow him. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pro_zpsc5cfa503.png Velits manages to bridge up to i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Guldhammer and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/bac_zps18a68956.png Navarro. They are now 1’04” behind i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Anton with 5km to go.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-22.jpg

But once again this can’t get away as i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin drags them back into the bunch. The road hits 10% and, realising that this is a great chance to weed out the weakest names, i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Sicard launches another attack.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-23.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin attack now and they go past i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Sicard. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck was much more conservative with his energy today – will that pay off?

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-24.jpg

Showing the same determination to work which he has shown all race, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego gets on to the front to control this move. In addition to catching i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin it reduces the group to only 11 riders. They are:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo, Lopez Garcia
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Sicard
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Brajkovic
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pro_zpsc5cfa503.png Velits
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/ubs_zpsaf43a720.png Amador
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pen_zpsd6e38272.png Kohl
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/bac_zps18a68956.png Intxausti

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-25.jpg

Time is running out to get a gap on this group and so with 2.3km to the summit i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/ubs_zpsaf43a720.png Amador launches an attack. He is only 15” down on i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Anton, who is gradually losing ground.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-26.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego follows the attack of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/ubs_zpsaf43a720.png Amador up to i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Anton. And they get a gap! i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/bac_zps18a68956.png Intxausti split off from the rest of the group of favourites but they are still being gapped by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-27.jpg

i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo work together and just before the kite they manage to bring in the group of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/bac_zps18a68956.png Intxausti has been dropped by these two but is still riding ahead of the other GC riders.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-28.jpg

Almost as soon as his group is caught, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego opens up his final burst to the line.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-29.jpg

A gap is opening up! Could this be the crucial moment where i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego stamps his authority on the race?

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-30.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo is the fastest of the riders behind him but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego still has a solid gap around the final bend.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-31.jpg

Defending champion i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Damiano Cunego takes the stage win but will he be given a time gap?

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-32.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo crosses the line in second... and a 14 second time gap is given! Combining that with the 8 extra bonus seconds means that i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego now has a 27 second lead over the Spaniard on GC. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck beats i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/ubs_zpsaf43a720.png Amador to the line for third place.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-33.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/bac_zps18a68956.png Intxausti is the next one across the line in fifth place, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/csc_zpsbdf7f4ce.png Anton right behind him. They are 51” down on the stage winner today.

i141.photobucket.com/albums/r44/CountArach/Man%20Game%202/TDF14-34.jpg

1’22” down on the stage winner is i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin, who takes 7th. He has a 9” gap on the riders behind him – i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/pro_zpsc5cfa503.png Velits, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/cal_zpsd3e3d363.png Brajkovic and i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/pearl.png Sicard.

So let’s have a look at the GC now. As mentioned i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego now has a 27” lead over i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/vesuvio.png Schleck slightly increases his lead in the fight for third against i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/ubs_zpsaf43a720.png Amador. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/bac_zps18a68956.png Intxausti’s great ride today moves him into fifth place as i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Tenorio came through 2’45” down today. i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/bo.png Pluchkin moves back into the top ten and there are several riders within a minute of him that he will hope to overhaul before the end of the race. In addition to extending his GC lead i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/lot_zps2971ec30.png Cunego’s stage win today means that he takes over the points competition with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PT/std_zpsb6c2f350.png Madrazo moving into second in that competition.
