Stage 6 is here, and this mountain time trial is unlikely to decide anything beyong the stage, although the young riders jersey may be up for grabs, with Ibargurden just 51 seconds behind Ihlenfeldt. The team competition will also be close, with Iberia only 32 seconds behind Kappa. For the stage, it looks likely to be Arroyo (KBG) against Marzano (KEN) again, with Mechov (FCB) and Moreno (ICV) acting as spoilers.
Jordi Simon (FCB) has struggled all tour, and can't even manage a decent showing here. coming in 14 seconds behind early leader, and lantern rouge, Da Dalto (KEN)
Da Dalto must having been saving up for his effort today, as he is still leading when 36th overall, Ronimois (VTF) comes through to equal his time. Kappa are certainly looking pretty good for the team competition with Da Dalto's marker.
Iberia are not giving up without a fight, and Bongiorno (ICV) comes through 8 seconds faster than Da Dalto to take the lead.
Bongiorno's lead lasts all of 2 riders, before Abrekov beats him by 11 seconds.
Duran (ABC) then takes second, at +6"
Camano (KAB) makes it a Kenya 1-2 as he takes the lead by 20 seconds, posting a time of 27' flat.
Perez Sanchez (ICV) is the first of the large group of riders only eight seconds outside the top ten, and he comes in just 3 seconds behind Camano.
Then Colorado (BVP) knocks 12 further seconds off the best time. riders are coming in thick and fast here.
Fernandez Oliveira (ICV) knows he has to fight for every second if he is to help Iberia win the team competition, but he can only manage 7th, 40 seconds down.
I'm not sure why Larsson came to this race, he is not a good enough climber, however as a pure time trialler he has no equal, and today is his day to shine. Mountain time trials aren't hsi forte though, and he only manages second, 10 seconds off the pace.
Kappa can afford to lose 10 seconds to each of their counterparts, which means that Maisto is up against Fernandez Oliviera at +40". Maisto can't beat him, but +47" leaves them with a 25 second advantage and two riders to come.
Ibagurden is on a mission to overturn his decifit to Ihlenfeldt, but a provisional 11th at +44" just won't isn't it.
Silva (MCC) takes sixth at +32" meaning he drops out of the top 15.
Martinez has his eyes on that top ten place, and 2nd at +8" gives him a shot of having it.
Kiserlovski (KEN) has two seconds on the group of riders in the overall, but his eyes will be on Perez Sanchez' time for the team competition. Kiserlovski can only manage sixth at +28", giving up a further 12 seconds to Iberia. This means that Marzano has to be within 12 seconds of Monero's time to take the team competition.
Gonzalo started the day 6 seconds ahead of Colorado, however he can only manage +24" so loses 4 places overall.
Carrara (ABC) is the man in posession of the coveted 10th spot, but only with an 8 second cushion on Colorado. It doesn't look like it will be enough, but Carrara scapes in at +6" to take over the clubhouse lead.
Behind him is Ihlenfeldt who can afford to drop 50 seconds and saty in the top ten. +44" for him means he even holds onto ninth.
Mora (MCC) holds 8th with his loss of 39 seconds.
Next up we have Niyontushi at +4'36", Ndibri at 4'25", Menchov at 4'15", and Parra Bustamante at 3'54". Each of them will be targeting the man ahead, while looking out nervously behind them.
Niyontushi (MTN) only manages 8th at +27"
Ndibri (KAB) goes 5th fastest, +11" clearly the long attack yesterday tired these two out.
Menchov (FCB) didn't use energy yesterday, so today he has plenty to burn, and he takes the lead, 11 seconds quicker than Colorado.
Parra Bustamante (BVP) has 27 seconds off cushion over Menchov, but he doesn't need any of it, as he takes the lead, by a further 2 seconds.
Now, onto the big three, their order isn't going to change, but a big ride from Moreno would win Iberia the team competition. There is also the stage glory to fight for.
Moreno can only match Menchov, coming in 2 seconds down.
Arroyo has been denide so many times this year, but today he is on fire, smashing the best time by 21 seconds.
Marzano, has been the best rider all tour though, and he proves, yet again, that whatever Arroyo can do, he can do better. He takes his third stage, and a dominant overall victory.
The points at the top of the climb also given Moreno the KoM over Coyot by a single point, although he falls 3 points short of taking the green jersye as well.
