Currently in my second season, with a custom team, in the continental division. Doing well on the tour of Wallonie (think thats spelt right), somehow got 5 riders in the top 10, however on stage 4, a flat, the usual breakaway happened. Seeing as there was no mountain points available, I kept my riders in the peleton, however the breakaway just didn't get reeled in, instead the gap got to ludicrous distances. I had my riders relaying at 87 at the front of the peleton, (has worked before in a last ditch effort to reel in a breakaway group), however the lead went from 5 minutes with 40km to go, to over 18 minutes! In a 5 stage tour, which in mostly flat, it's race over. Is this a bug, or what else has happened? I know breakaways are capably of keeping a gap, but finding 13 minutes in the final 40km, with a peleton working that hard?

According to your description the peloton was not working, only your riders.
So if there are like 4 of your helpers against 10 cyclist in the break, then the math is easy.
But this has been discussed before. I am sure you can find an appropriate thread (The new AI and the new stats are involved).
