What is the best way to handle 2 teammates climbing together in a mountain stage?
Specifically, where you are trying to protect one of them as much as possible and conserve his energy.
a. Put the protected rider on solo and use the other guy to "protect" him.
b. Put the teammate on "infinite relay" and have the leader "take position" on him.
c. Other (please define)
Also why can't you have a teammate attack, and then click "follow"? I sure can't get that to work... it doesn't allow me to follow anyone on my own team.....
Thanks in advance! I really enjoy this game.

I usually use method B that you stated, but everybody plays the game different.

Usually Option B works for me, and Option A is too risky IMHO. I'm not sure why can't you follow your teammates attack? But as soon as the domestique attack, click pause then right click unto him and you can see there's a follow teammate attack button.
I use plan-A, because normally my domestique isn't strong enough to hurt my leader's rivals. So he will just protect my leader until he burns out. Didn't help me to win the Tour with Nibali though, so it may as well be the wrong way to go...
A- protected rider{leader} is on solo effort, and rider B is on "protect" command.
B- leader is on solo effort, rider B is on solo effort too {although higher, so that he can be ahead of leader}
In situation A, rider B will burn out much, much sooner, than in situation B, in which case he is just fine. The speed and climb is the same in both examples.
Can you explain to me, why that is?
Hopefully you will understand what I was trying to say.
I think it's because in the game, when you protect a rider some of the energy that rider would be expending, is instead expended by your domestique. As a result, one way the rider is having to match, and accomodate some of the leaders effort. Where as the other way, he only has to worry about maintaining that pace up the climb
From my sparse experience with trying out B, I can tell my leader uses quite a bit more energy by holding position than by using the dot already (180bpm to stay in the wheel, while dot+75 effort is easily enough to stay there too, which translates to a lower bpm).
Option A is what I use often. If it's the best, I doubt, but at least my leader uses the least energy.
Option A when there are fewer riders in the peloton, option B for longer climbs.
