Hi Guys !
Can you explain to me when creating a custom team I can gather big riders to the team because the budget is to big and makes the things a lot easier.
I have created a custom team and I had Nibali, Betancur, Pinot, Rolland, Porte, Greipel, Degenkolb, Quintana etc.
This is normal ? |

You don't have to spend all the budget btw..it kind of giving more flexibility to player to decide their squad. No one insist you to create such monster squad |

Yeah, hiring good trainers and scouts won't hurt.

Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

I never have created a "super team", no point in using the full budget either.
I get 1 rider who is a GC threat in the GTs. 1 that is a threat in smaller races like the Tour de Swiss. And 1-2 classics riders, as once the cobble rating is 75+ they arent cheap.
So my team looks something like this:
Froome- GC for GTs
Tejay- GC for smaller races and great help for GT rider
Boome- Classics and not to bad in support for GT rider
Other classic rider if I get 2
Then I will start finding riders in the lower cost area. I like to not go over the age of 31-32, as if you look many riders decline starts around that age. Ofcourse you find some exceptions, looking through the DB isnt a bad idea. Note riders who are say 34+ as most teams sign them to 1yr deals. But if they show in the DB they wont decline till say 36-40 range. You can find them easily around 3500-15000. Depends on your goals how high you want to pay for older riders.
Anyway, before I look for an older rider that still is producing. I skim through and get most of my team in the 3500-7500 range. Many good stat riders can be had in this range. If Im planning to try to win 1 GT atleast, I go after MT and HIL stats of about 77-79, 75-76 works...but you can find the higher riders if you look. Many times I find a rider with a 77 MT and 70 HIL for 5000 and one with a 72 MT and 77 HIL. Then I have to see who will be more helpful. Aiming to win a GT is almost as much planning as what you do in the race. I try to even out my good hill riders and good mountian riders. The hill help both on flat and as climbs start, then your MT riders take over to help your GC threat. I dont sign many sprinters if any at all. Instead, I find good classic riders who are decent sprinters and same with hill riders. If you do this, your team will be good for points also. The reason being, in a TTT they have good enough ability to help not hurt the team.
Once I have my 3-4 main riders and about 10 decent HIL/MT riders, I then go see who I can sign that is older (still some good riders, just watch that decline age) and mid level riders who may become great...but arent yet there. I have signed many a good GT darkhorse doing this. He may cost 17000...but stats are almost as good as you GT rider. But they tend to be young and thats why they arent more costly. And if you main GC rider falter or withdrawls...many can get a top 5-10 place if you make them the leader.
Most times using this, I have enough left in my budget for camps(not used much), better trainer or 2 and another doctor or 2. And still have money left.
Dont make the mistake I made my 1st season and shortlist a ton of great riders. I ended up signing 5...out of 10, and created a super team. The issue was I went bankrupt not 3 weeks into the season. The riders did great, but I was so far over budget that it would take 2 full seasons to get back to normal...big learning experience. So before you do it...read what I did and it wont happen to you. Really bad to become a WT team, have a top 5 finish in all 3 GT races and get fired and demoted to some random team.
Pain,Agony,Suffering...Thats why I love cycling!

I just started a Career with a small, continental just irish Team, and the Sponsors want a Top 5 at the Tour de Suisse and Stage Wins at the Tour de France, eventhough i can't take part. Can i Change this with an Editor or will i just have to live with really unhappy Sponsors ?

Which then translated to "The game messed up the sponsor goals".
And to answer the question of Dippofix: Yes, you can edit it.
In my editor I even have a button to open that table because I do it so often. Click on "Sponsor goals" to see the goals, I recommend that you only edit the races. |
