I had cycling manager 2 for the PC ages ago and never got on with it at all, however have now got the PSP version and having a whale of a time...
Am only on beginner level, but am part way through first season with Caisse, and game seems pretty well balanced. Little bit of depth with the training programmes, but seems perfect for a hand-held.
How's everyone else getting on? Specifically: -
1. Does intensity of training make much difference? Is it sensible to get young riders on 'intense' to get their abilities up, or will they also improve through racing?
I've been 'lurking' here for a while but hope to post more regularly in future.
Hello, and well, I would have said "Welcome", but since you've been here for two months I guess it's too late
First of all, you should be glad that you've gone from Cycling Manager 2 to the PSP-version - at least that doesn't make the "jump" that big. I bought the PSP-version after having played the latest PC-version (Pro Cycling Manager 2007) for months, and, well, graphic-wise, there's a lot of difference. Also, the gameplay just seems too simple. So, basically, I never really got the hang of it - not yet anyway.
I can answer your question, though -- the young riders will also develop through racing, that's for sure. Actually, it's very important that they race since training alone won't make them gain stats. You might be able to read more about it in the manual.
