This is a tragic development that happened this afternoon. He was captain of the club I support and a legend of it, despite his injury hit career. Phil O'Donnell, RIP

Yup. A seizure. these seem to be becoming more common within the game, which is a shame. |

they've always been far more common in most sports than they should be. athletes that are perfectly healthy keep having heart problems that they shouldn't have. and it's not for lack of medical supervision. it's because nandrolone, corticosteroids, etc, destroy your heart and lungs.
yup, I said it.

I agree with you on this one. I think drug use in football is widespread - its just a shame that dope tests aren't as stringent as they should be. Then again, the testers are always one step behind the dopers it seems in any sport. |

it's worse than that.
did you see what happened to the football players named in Puerto? Valencia, Sevilla, Barça, Real Madrid....they all magically disappeared from the list.
it's always swept under the rug carefully...
the only sports where I'll admit the possibility of a portion of the athletes being clean are those where something is actually done about doping. and that's cycling, handball and not much else.

So true. I noticed tennis got away too in Puerto. Its all about whether the money is there in the sport concerned to pay for the rug and the broom...if you get what I mean
Its very sad  |

to be honest, I don't really care if they're all doped, as the playing ground is level and it's their own health they're screwing up, not mine.
what I do care about is those who are clean having a mountain to climb. that I get mad about.
how many clean guys have marginal careers when they could've been great? that is pretty sad

as a sports fan, I'm not interested in watching doped atheletes - I want to see people achieve things through talent, fitness and preperation, not whose got the best 'contacts'. Its this which makes doping an unlevel playing field: people are always looking for better 'stuff' than their competitors, and you are automatically making it unfair to those atheletes who wish to compete without unnesscessary health risks. And yes, such people do exist. |
