SportingNonsense
The first taste of mountains!

The breakaway:

Bjelkmark, Euser, Hacecky, Raisin, Cardoso, Moreno, McCann, Stubbe, Scholz, Baez, Mizbani and 3rd overall Stalder.

Scholz and Stalder took the first two KoM sprints, while Moreno won both of the Intermediate sprints.

The first attacks from the peleton came with 61km to go, with Nicacio, Ladino and Jiminez Sanchez attacking.

They were caught after 6km though.

Cardoso and Moreno pulled away as the big climb began.

And Matej Mugerli was soon dropped from the peleton.

Up front, Cardoso has surprisingly dropped Moreno, with Raisin in 3rd place on the road.

A lot of the team leaders attacked from the peleton, but only Pozzovivo and Pereiro got away.

Kohl did not attack and his teammates were instrumental in the chasing down of the pair. When the pair were caught, Ferrio attacked - and Kohl countered along with Caucchioli.

Kohl was the strongest, ahead of Caucchioli while Ferrio and Blanco also got a slight gap.

Kohl caught and dropped Moreno with Caucchioli in pursuit. Blanco and Ferrio have caught Raisin.

Cardoso still leads but is caught by Kohl. The Austrian does not take any relays though so Cardoso takes the KoM points.

Kohl crosses 2nd while Caucchioli and Moreno are next. Santos Gonzalez puts in an attack near the top.

After the descent, Kohl still isnt working and they are now only just ahead of Moreno, Gonzalez and Caucchioli.

Kohl leaves it until the sprint to come past Cardoso and takes victory.

Cardoso is 2nd, while Gonzalez Capilla is 3rd.

Matej Mugerli slips to 41st overall, but the leaders jersey stays at DFL as Stage 3 winner Xavier Tondo takes the race lead.
