Have been toying around with a few of the previous releases of this game as I love cycling and I love the idea this game offers. Sadly, the previous editions have never truly captured me, as they have always been riddled with bugs. Tried out PCM 2010 just now, with the db-updates (the ones that do those deserves some kind of medal. Truly excellent work), but soon lost interest as I was unable to attack in the mountains. So the mountain stages usually ended up being decided in a "sprint". Kinda boring.
My question is this: Is this years version any better? If its not, has Cyanide started to fix the bugs in patches, or do they just ignore them as they always have?
I bought every version up untill the 2010-version but just got so fed by the bugs that I lost interest. Is it any use trying again? |

So the gameplay in the mountains have improved? Are there any other significant bugs relating to gameplay? |

If you have PCM 2010 I'd say buy it. But if you have 2011 or 2012 maybe just wait to next year as there isnt that much improvements |

At the moment i am not convinced by PCM 13, the load times are appalling and to me the game play is better in PCM 12, BUT THAT IS JUST imo |

I'm in the same boat; I don't know if I should fork out the money or not.
I like simulation/manager games, but I am not usually interested in playing more than a few key stages on 3D mode.
After the advanced sim was shown to be buggy, I pretty much dropped playing the game last year.
I also like to play the same team for many seasons, working my way up.
So, in the opinion of those of you who HAVE bought the game, should I buy it? |

To be honest,i am disappointed. I was always deffending game, small budget, small company, but i tried PCM12 again this day,and IMO it's much better. Might be because of full patches/databases , but if i am you, i'll wait for at least 1 month. If patches do something big, i'd buy it. Would not buy it atm.
Btw, if anyone wants to buy game, you have great chance by doing that via Steam.
PCM12 is now only 10e and PCM13 is 29,99e , since it's Summer Sale.

Why is PCM 2012 better, in your opinion? |

I am not sure about details. It's just smoother, you just somehow feels better when plays it. Mountain AI is improved, but for me , PCM12 AI was a bit bug,but not that much as other represents. Cobbles were better in PCM12 , since you clearly got smaller groups. Attacking style were more realistic.
There are many stuff , but that's pretty much. Still , PCM13 has to got patches, but i really doubt it will change something. Also, layout in PCM13 changed and i really don't like new style. I am confused sometimes and a bit lost, but that's maybe just me.

Almost the whole manager part was changed in PCM 13 but either it doesn't sense, is bugged or was a change to the worse.
Now it is possible to group riders (but differently to my season planner, the grouping is of no real use).
The season planning was changed one more time. They made it somewhat easier to build the fitness schedules but now riders will constantly complain about the schedule and get unhappy. Even the weakest riders want to have their own race program instead of accepting their role as water carrier. And the automatic fitness planning was programmed so lousy that the riders peak for the first week of the GT only.
The finances got changes again. Instead of fixing the secondary sponsors, they removed them. Sponsor budget can be negotiated but you will not know the next years budget until the season is over (and therefore much to late for signing riders). The finance difficulty has been removed making it harder or impossible for small teams. And you wont get any prize money from races any longer (although I like this, Cyanide just did not think it through, for example you have absolutely no money to buy equipment).
If you add the bugs to the above list, this game is just pure crap even if the mountain AI is considered to be better which I severely doubt. According to my experience the GT favorites always attack at the foot of the last climb making the races very predictable. |

So the GT Favourite always attack at the foot of mountain?Make it back to the older version of pcm.Same story all over again..at least you can get a gap with the attack.By the way i'm still consider buying this because of useless attack button in pcm 2012 especially in mountain and hilly stage.Of course you can use dot but it make me feel sorry for ai when see they attack without get any gap and wasted their energy. |

i´d say - i will just add i havent played pcm 13 - that i´d wait. Just like i have been. I must say, that watsching the tour and not being able to play the new game, makes my fingers itch, buti havent surrendered to my cravings.
given the patching history of recent pcm´s, we are about to recieve a new patch within the next couple of weeks. With that in mind, it seems rather logical to wait a bit longer and see what this patch brings to the table and jsut carefully read what other people are experiencing.
i fully accept, that all have a unique perspective about the game, patches and what not, but given the experience that this site contains in regards to pcm, i think its worthwhile to listen and carefully read what is writteny.
Im still waiting myself, i´ve simple read to many reports about bugs and so on, to believe its wort buying right now.
you´ve waited so far, so waiting a couple weeks more, wont reallly make much of a difference.

Same as you, greco. Reading what Lachi wrote I'm glad that I waited, although I have been tempted at times. I'll probably end up buying at some point though, but right now I'm happy with pcm12. |
