Rider Satisfaction Revised!
Ian Butler
Well, I'm now in a career that's already a couple of months into the first season.

As usual, most riders get annoyed or very unhappy at the end of February, caused by the "satisfaction bug".

However, I've come to learn that their satisfaction is easily swayed back in the game, so it's not a bug that needs to be corrected in a patch. If there is a "bug", it's only that the riders expect WT in February, which is impossible.

About 25/30 riders were extremely unhappy or annoyed at the end of February, including Cavendish, Boonen etc...

I looked at what caused the unhappiness and added a few races for both of them (a flat stage race for Cav, things like that). After some more races, both became increasingly more happy.

So the satisfaction system isn't waterproof, but it does work, it'll just require some getting used to.

EDIT: Update, I've also noticed the riders let you know at the end of every month what they're thinking. They can tell you up to three things:
- They want to participate in more races.
- They want to participate in races that suit their strong points.
- They want to participate in more prestigious races.

Simply edit their schedule to their needs and they're back to happy!

For me it is still a bug. It dsn't matter that they become happy when they drive in selected races. In January i say to Nibali: go in the Giro, TdF and WC. He say: Yupi! Im so happy! (full green bar). In March 1st he said:
- Hey, dammit! It is March now and im so angry! Race days? Zero! Prestige? Zero! Profile? Zero! Pfffffff!!
- But.... mister Nibali, Giro starts in May...
- Nevermind! Im pissed off! And i will start Giro very angry! Im a rider not an astrologist! I dont need to know on the calendar! You stupid manager!

Ian Butler
That's because he also wants to race earlier than the Giro. Tirreno, maybe? L-B-L. Add those races to his schedule but not to his objectives and he'll be much more happy already.

Same goes for real life. A Nibali doesn't want to start his season in May, he wants to start early and race a lot!

Hey, that might help, thanks Ian Wink

Great tips. I only use the schedule option like a week before the race so I see who is in good shape. But your tips may actually work!

Thanks

Good tip, thanks Smile

I've a question that I think is related to this. Recently, I've started a season with Movistar just to experiment. Karpets has some ridiculous objectives like Tour of Qatar, Tour of Sarthe (it's not this races, just put examples) and so on. Has this happened to anyone? How do you dealt with it?
I guess that he still can race Giro d'Italia or Vuelta but this objectives are a bit stupid I guess. I'm afraid that, by putting these cyclists in all races they want, I cannot fill the squad to participate.

Good tip btw Wink

Cheers

Erm, you should've adjusted all the objectives at the start of the season, of course Wink

"Low-profile" riders want to race in rather low-profile races as well.

Which was a pain in the ass yesterday when I planned an Argos season.
Hey, I know most of you are shit, but I still need 9 riders per GT! Rolling Eyes

Oh, and about the initial topic: It's definitely bugged.
Nibali was unhappy while and after winning all GTs, obviously with rather few prep races in between. He was very happy with his schedule pre-season though, and I don't think he wanted to race 30 extra race days which would have put him on 130 race days...

I havent played 13 yet but it seems to me evrybody wanted more "MANAGEMENT" and that's what this sounds like to me.

Ian, are you saying hat in the Nibali example that once he starts riding his morale will improve quickly?

Easy. If TdF, make Österreich Rundfahrt, Quinhai Lake, Pologne, Tour Alsace or so objectives. If Giro, f.e. California. You get the point Wink

If you let him race the races he prefers.

I guess you both different definitions of "pain in the ass". Me too would consider it painful to find matching races instead of just assigning them to the race they should participate.

But this was at the start of the season mate. I've removed those and I put Giro d'Italia for example and he's barely happy. What do you do?

Guess I'll continue PCM11 just to return to something that I already know and let PCM13 improve and get patched Smile

That has been mentioned already by Ian, see post #3

True.
But it's a better option than having your riders completely unhappy and therefore having trouble with achieving results. At least in my opinion Wink

I guess you misunderstood. The pain is that you HAVE TO ASSIGN them to another race which happens to take place at the same time if you want to make them happy and still race the races you want them to. It means more work for you because of the lousy implementation of that feature.

Yes, I got it.
And I don't like that either, but it's less a pain in the ass than your riders being completely unhappy. Wink

Lachi is right, but both of you miss an important detail:
Assigning them to other races keeps them happy pre-season because they can look forward to race the races they want to.
But obviously, they'll never ride those. So they become unhappy later on anyway.

It's just delaying the problem Wink

Does a riders happiness affect his performance?

Mustneeger
At the start of the second season every single rider was "unhappy" including the new signings. By the end of February those who raced most improved to "annoyed" and few others who were planned to start the season with TA are "very unhappy". I guess it will get better as season goes on but in my opinion it doesn't make sense that everybody's satisfaction level is at the bottom at the start of the season.

All the riders had almost full bar happiness for the objectives.

Does everybody else have the same thing?
