Hello to all PCM.daily users, as a newbie let me first start off by saying I am thoroughly enjoying this forum. Everyone I have made contact with so far has been pleasant and helpful.
Having got into the PCM series only last year I am now addicted to the game (regardless of how frustrating it can sometimes be). I have browsed plenty of stories since joining the forum and it is these which have given me the inspiration to have a stab at doing my own.
A special thanks to Mresuperstar who has had to contend with me pestering him with numerous messages about his stunning 'The Comeback' story. His excellent work has shown me individual player stories are perhaps not as daunting as I thought.
Any feedback during this story would be greatly appreciated since learning is after all the only way we can improve! I hope you all enjoy it.

They say it can be a long and torturous road to the top of the mountain, in sports it was certainly the case. I should know, I had been close before only to lose it all in one fell swoop. Years of torture and dedication all gone in the blink of the eye. Some will say it was well deserved…others will say that I was a victim of circumstance…the truth lies somewhere in between.
Did I really deserve to lose everything though. All the effort…all the hours spent refining my skills..the triumphs and the failures…all were building to this one moment and now it was gone. I was staring down a long dark tunnel and at the end there was no light…

Sounds a bit like Mre's story "The Comeback"
But nonetheless, good luck with this and wherever it goes!

Good luck, hopefully it isn't too similar to my story. Originality goes a long way.
Oh, and if you have any more questions I'm happy to continue helping you.
Story writing is a tricky skill to master.

TOUR DE SPIRAL: STAGE 1 -CLOUDS BEFORE THE STORM
I arose to the expected negativity and backlash. Voicemails and texts in abundance, few offering support, many a vast torrent of abuse. I was expecting it, heck who in my circumstance wouldn’t have but that didn’t make it any easier. I knew at this very moment my life was about to get difficult…that’s an understatement it was going to become unbearable and I for one wasn’t sure I would be able to withstand it.
Setbacks were something I had faced before, they were supposed to test you both psychologically and physically in some cases. This was something more for me though. It was one which I couldn’t see a way back from…it was one which I knew certain people would try to ensure I would never come back from. The tide would turn and it would be firmly against me…in the past I would have stood up and fought but this time the desire to do so simply wasn’t there. Why?! Was it self-pity or did I just accept that this was a battle I was never going to win…

@seadog -Thanks! Granted some of the inspiration has come from Mre, though to be fair I would have gone for this layout regardless as I am a bit OCD when it comes to stuff being organised, including my writing.
@admirschleck - Cheers
@Mresuperstar - The story will be different for sure, though I do take inspiration from some of your ideas regards getting the community involved. I have done story writing for games before, hopefully my skill passes across to PCM
@Cycleman - It's something I haven't seen done before so thought I would give it a try. Lets see if I can continue thinking up names
@sutty68 - Appreciate it, nice to have one of the most dedicated story followers looking in on my thread. Lets hope I can keep you intrigued.
TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 2: EXPOSED
It took 4 days for the full extent of my actions to really come to the fore. To be honest it was 4 days longer than I thought….
There it was, in black and white…printed for everyone to see. The first nail in my coffin. If the previous days could be described as a nightmare then the forecoming ones would be indescribable. My career was in tatters and the press would ensure that every juicy detail would be revealed for all to know and judge!
When people talk about a fall from grace this was about as spectacular as one could get. Having broken into the Middlesbrough first team 12 months previous my reputation had rocketed. By the time January had rolled round I was being linked with a transfer to multiple Premier League teams. I was playing for the England U21’s and a senior team call up was on the horizon….that of course was before the floor fell from under me.

@Ian Butler - Thanks Ian, hopefully I can get the same kind of following and quality that you put into your stories! Loving the Andy Schleck one!
TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 3: FALL FROM GRACE
When people talk about a fall from grace this was about as spectacular as one could get. Having broken into the Middlesbrough first team 12 months previous my reputation had rocketed. By the time January had rolled round I was being linked with a transfer to multiple Premier League teams. I was playing for the England U21’s and a senior team call up was on the horizon…. that of course was before the floor fell from under me.
A whole week past and it was still in the news. Whilst the story diverted to the wider issue, journalists would ensure my name was dropped in at every opportunity. There was no way anyone was forgetting about this in a hurry they were making sure of that. Those initial days were a blur, a mixture of emotions…from hope to self loathing…from self pity to anger. How could I have been so stupid?! I had everything I wanted…the world was my oyster and what did I do…I blew it!! ‘’Ring, Ring’’….’’Ring, Ring’’…..it was the phone call I had been expecting…. judgement day had been set…the FA had summoned me…I was soon to learn my fate..

@Cycleman - Ha thank you, lets hope I remain your favourite story, I could guarantee it by just continuing to write about football but others would be unimpressed I think.
@IanButler - Yep, haven't seen it done before and should tie in nicely *fingers crossed*
@jesleyh - Spot on...the game was invented in England...the Americans can't take everything from us! Soccer Pfft!!
@Selwink - Thanks a lot. The plot will be a little lengthy as I feel it adds to the story and whilst some people like to read just quick updates with results I know others enjoy some depth to stories.
TOUR DE SPIRAL STAGE 4: SUMMONED & SENTENCED
Good morning and welcome to SKYSPORTS NEWS!! We are heading straight over to our football correspondent who is outside the FA headquarters…Good Morning Geraint:
Geraint: Good Morning Ed, yes breaking news in the last few moments! I’m here at Wembley where the FA have given a verdict on the case of match fixing brought against Owen Meek. Having analysed the evidence collected during an ongoing investigation by Europol & UEFA they have deemed that the 17 year old forward was guilty of match fixing in incidents relating to 2 games.
Ed: So with the decision reached just what is the punishment received and what happens from here
Geraint: Well it is understood that there were extenuating circumstances involved in this case, what these were we are not able to say, however it would seem these have been taken into consideration. Owen has been handed a 4 year ban by the FA and it is expected that FIFA will follow suit with perhaps an even tougher punishment in an effort to show they are doing everything in their power to stamp out what has been identified as an underlying and wide issue within the game.
