Ster ZLM Tour - Stage 4
tsmoha
i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM_stag4_zpsf14d53bd.jpg

The final day of the Ster ZLM Tour and it's by far the easiest looking stage: a pan-flat 160km ride from Schijndel to Boxtel, two Intermediate Sprints, no real difficulties except of the temperatures (32 degrees).

So it's a day for the sprinters if everything goes as expected: former race-leader i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/var_zps06f2aa1f.png Guarnieri looks in great shape. He almost managed to defend his lead in yesterday's hilly stage (+ 0.32 in GC) and some more bonus seconds could make him re-enter the Top-5/10 at least.

Most dangerous GC-contender should be i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Gavazzi (+ 0.12) though: the Italian is the only remaining sprinter within 20 seconds to race-leader i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/btc_zpse1fa0b09.png Levarlet.

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_001_zps6168a717.jpg

The first breakaway attempt is allowed to stay clear:

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/htc_zps6bfb639a.png Van der Lijke (as GC's best here: + 1.46 as 34th)
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/aip_zps544721ca.png Silvestre
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/jkp_zpsd1d2e7e2.png Hayakawa
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/anc_zps34cc1374.png Hampton

esatblished a 2-minutes gap with still 148km remaining.

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_003_zps6c6d39cc.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/htc_zps6bfb639a.png Van der Lijke is the only one going for the two i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/points_zps63f449ab.png sprints, collecting 12 more points to the 10 he already had. With 22 points, he could finish in point's Top-10.

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_004_zps3dad9206.jpg

While i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/btc_zpse1fa0b09.png Bouygues did most of the work in the chase through the whole day, it's the sprinter-teams i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/var_zps06f2aa1f.png Vespa, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Rothaus and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png Vueling taking control with now already less than 10km to go!

Nothing special happened in the meantime and also the breakaway couldn't hold on to their lead, even though Van der Lijke gives it a last try.

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_005_zpsc9500982.jpg

But no chance. It's going to be a mass-sprint today, just as expected. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Rothaus set up a train for Vantomme, with several other sprinters staying behind for now!

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_006_zpsabc89663.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png is now moving forward with a second train, so let's have a look at who's at the front with now 2km remaining:

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Velits
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Cucinotta
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Vantomme
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png Kupfernagel
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/anc_zps34cc1374.png Nelson
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/btc_zpse1fa0b09.png Weylandti439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png Pedersen
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png Kipi439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png Reimer
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Trakseli439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png Kennaugh

So no sign of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/var_zps06f2aa1f.png Guarnieri or i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Gavazzi yet! Especially Guarnieri is a real surprise, as he finished 1st and 2nd in the flat stages so far.

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_007_zpsa8632fb5.jpg

We're under the kite and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Cucinotta is still leading out Vantomme and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png Kupfernagel!

Also the i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png Vueling-train is moving forward with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Traksel behind.. on the left i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/btc_zpse1fa0b09.png Weylandt and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Gavazzi are trying to accelerate! So a chance for Gavazzi (GC + 0.12) to gain bonus seconds?

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_008_zps33dd302e.jpg

Ain't looking good for Gavazzi, as he can't keep his opponents' pace!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Vantomme had a nice leadout and stays in the lead, now facing i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png Kupfernagel and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png Kennaugh from left and right!

Behind it's i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/anc_zps34cc1374.png Nelson and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Traksel trying to hang on..

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_009_zps2484e57a.jpg

But i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Vantomme maintains his small advantage, taking out the final stage of the ZLM Tour! Well done, back to 2013 mode, right?!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vue_zps51fdf35e.png Kennaugh sprints for yet another podium-finish to secure the points-jersey! i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/amx_zps91aadbbd.png Kupfernagel completes today's podium, ahead of an again strong i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Traksel and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/CT/anc_zps34cc1374.png Nelson.

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_010_zpsf71aad63.jpg

That's what his manager wanted to see: Maxime Vantomme winnning!

i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/ZLM4/ZLM_4_011_zps458e2e49.jpg

And another manager will be happy to see i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/btc_zpse1fa0b09.png Levarlet winning the overall! Neither Gavazzi (9th) nor Guarnieri (18th) could score bonus seconds today.

The only change within GC's Top-10 is i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/trh_zpsd616c798.png Iglinski sneaking on 10th position thanks to better stage-placementes than i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png King, who drops on 12th.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ing_zps78b9af5e.png Roche and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/ubi_zps47ce5481.png Gavazzi complete the tour's podium, with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/vwm_zps2ffcd386.png Flügel and a surprising i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys/PCT/htc_zps6bfb639a.png Vanbilsen on further positions. The puncheurs managed to take out this race, even though some top-favorites would have hoped for a more selective 3rd stage.
