We had this topic last year. I know that some of us don't mind putting some money on races, so let's compare what we have put down and what odds we got. I've got the following bets going this year:
Contador to win - 3.25:1 (I figure that if Froome crashes, this is a really really good bet).
Valverde Top 3 - 6:1
Schleck Top 10 - 3:1
Martin Top 10 - 3:1
Nieve Top 10 - 10:1
Kittel no stage wins - 2:1
Gadret to beat Voeckler overall - 1.87:1
Hesjedal to beat Van den Broeck overall - 3:1 (We don't know how fit Hesjedal is at the moment, but if he is good then this is another really solid bet).
So what about you guys?

What do you think about Andy Schleck finishing in the top 3 overall, hes at 50/1 and if I put £20 on I could get back £1,290.
Also looking at Valverde 40/1, Rodriguez 14/1, Evans 22/1, Porte 25/1 and Quintana 28/1.

Valverde is the best bet by far imo.
(if that's for Top3 of course)

£20 Each Way on Valverde will get me £1,040, he has never had much luck in the tour though.

I don't know a lot about betting, but if I got this right and Valverde is on 40/1 just to podium, I'd seriously have to consider investing 100 € in that.

He's 40/1 to win outright but each way pays out for top 3 placing.

I expected that, you didn't make it very clear.
Still, you get 1040 for 20 for podium?
That's even better if my Math's fine?
Even if it's 104 for 20, I'd definitely consider that.
Is it linear? So double the bet is double the winnings?

Let me clear it up...
The total bet is £40. (20 each way)
He would get £1040 if Valverde wins, and £220 if he podiums.

Thats cleared it up abit more for me now too, I wasn't too sure how much I would get if he just podiums.

P.S - Hadn't noticed this thread before now somehow
I love betting on cycling, there can be real value to be found, especially in-play with covering bets etc.
Been taking advantages of the Bet Victor promotion currently running, but been ridiculously unlucky with my bets I reckon.
Stage 1 - £10 on Cav to get the ball rolling... crash caused by Orica's team bus.
Stage 2- £10 free bet on Sagan... wins sprint but behind Bakelants stays clear due to dog in road (probably Orica-owned)
Stage 3 - Money split between Sagan outright and Kwiatkowski each way... Sagan beat on the line by Orica rider, Kwiat one place outside money having been disrupted by Orica train.
Stage 4 - OPQS outright free bet... Orica win by 0.7s
I was obviously in an anti-Australian rage by this point, but thankfully got the last two stages just about correct. |

Im on betvictor too, had £10 on Cav to win stage 1, £20 on Cav to win yesterday, got back £40.
£20 E/W on Greipel today got back £140
£2.50 E/W on Sagan today, got back £10
Plus I had Sabine Lisicki to beat Radwanska today in the Tennis, £15 on that got back £31.50
Plus I have £20 on Contador to win the Tour

Nice betting! BV is great isn't it, I'm positive they've given me too much promo cash twice now, it just keeps appearing
What annoyed me though is that it was impossible to place accumulators before the tour. I wanted Froome for GC, Sagan for green, TvG for white and Movistar for team. Tried loads of sites but none would let me, tenner would've returned nearly £400! |

Surely this is an unbelievable bet... total riders to wear the yellow jersey - under 5.5 @ 7/4
4 have worn it, Froome will be the 5th on Saturday... game over, no? |

Betting for money is illegal in the land of freedom? That sucks , is there no "unofficial way" to bet on cycling? |

No "real" bets in shops but..
I was chatting with a Cycling Society mate and my Andy Schleck joke bet turned scarily real.
Andy Wins GC, i ride naked Lands End to John O'Groats. Andy doesn't win i get £10... should be safe with that one.
Also got another one that Cavendish wins 5 stages. He wins 5 stages i get £10, he wins more is get £20, he wins less i loose £15

There's a betting office a few roads down where you can bet on the jerseys and probably stage wins, but I didn't bother to jump in. I don't like betting, if I bet on a certain rider, you can be almost sure the he doesn't win. I only win when a rider has no competition at all (Martin in ITT's, Cav in Giro sprints etc). When the field is more equal, I always bet on the wrong one, I even lose most of the head-on-heads. |

The way I see it, you won't have to ride naked, but you will lose 5 squid! |

not for me
i can see a break winning, (and by extension) taking the jersey, to then lose it later in the tour to the eventual GC winner |
