Hey, I had a question regarding signing top riders. For example, I'm playing career with Liquigas and I'm planning on signing a top sprinter such as Hushovd, Freire, Cavendish, ... . Though I already have a top sprinter in my team - Sagan - and I'm unsure whether it's smart to buy a second one. I've never been one to buy a few mediocre riders because I hardly ever see a visible effect (even though they're important). So, my question, will it be bad for the team to buy a second top sprinter, or will I just have to divide my top sprinters over the races. (or race with both of them and use one of them as leadout for the other). Same question goes for top climbers since I already have Nibali and Basso.
If you do the races in 3d-mode it won't be a problem, but if you have two leaders in the same race and sim it, one of them might react negatively. You might get away with it by setting the other as a free element.
I've had that quite a few times, but I have never actually noticed an effect of it. Morale didn't drop, even when the same rider reacted to it three days in a row.
What riders you sign still doesn't have any influence on the other riders (that is, your old sprinter won't be mad if you sign another top sprinter, or two, or 29). Also, riders don't really mind if they cannot go to their favourite races, nor if they are only used as helper (though that may have changed in '12 or '13, but not as far as I know). It's the same for TT, GC, whatever specialists.
The motivation/mood is influenced by a riders results, but I never had problems since their mood also improves when team members win something and you praise the team in those 'interviews'.
However, having many top riders may make the game boring when you become unbeatable quite soon.. And unrealistic, compared to real life, where cyclist do care who else is on a team - some more, some less, I guess.
Oh, ok. And yeah about the unbeatable part, basically I've been winning all sprints with Sagan since I started career so I should probably play on a harder mode. But then again, I'm having more problems on mountains, not because of the riders but just because I suck at calculating when to break away.
And I don't get the interviews anymore that I used to get in PCM 2008 when I win something, so can't motivate them that way.
