I am totally new to the world of cycling and know next to nothing about it or how this game works, so if anyone would be willing to give me some tips and pointers I would be ever so thankful.
I also did not know where else to go for info as the official forum is mostly French and I am not sure there are a lot of English speaking players there so finding this forum was awesome.
I did a 200k stage and was in the best teams at the end but blew the final sprint by attacking a little to soon.
A few questions:
What is the energy stuff for (the cream or gel or whatever it is) and how is it best used in a stage?
Should I try to keep my team together, except for the breakaways?
What do the relay icons do? (not sure what is meant by relay)
Well that's just a few things I sort of need first up, but there are so many other things I just don't know and better to ask than give up
Thanks again for ant help you can provide.
Also I would recommend watching some youtube videos to get an idea of what does what, its a good way of seeing the result of someone who knows what they are doing.
On flat stages, you dont "attack" but rather you "sprint". (atleast at the end of the stage; the final 3km)
Here is a great video that can also be found in the Tips section:
As for the Energy Gel. That gel slightly replenishes the red bar, but it takes a km or two before it starts working, so if you are going to attack or sprint for the win, you should plan to use the gel just before the attack.
I try to keep my team together near the front of the peloton, that way if I want one of my riders to go into the break, he is at the front ready to follow a move, and wont get stuck behind other riders. Same for when you are climbing, and preparing for the sprint. Only problem is sometimes if the stage is really windy your team will lose a bit of energy, but I've never noticed anything too major.
Hope that helps a bit.

1) Energy gel provides a minimal sustaining of the 'red energy', or the short term energy for a rider. I often prefer to use it when creating a sprint train.
2) Depends on your strategy. If you want to control the race, put all your guys in a group up front.
3) Relaying is where a rider takes part in pace making. He will go to the front, and if multiple riders are relaying at the same effort, will join that effort.
Hope that's good! Don't hesitate to ask for anything else!
EDIT: Zabel'd.

Thanks guys for the help, I will look into those vids and I have been checking out the stuff I can find on this version as well to try to learn what I can.
One of my biggest problems is knowing what rider is good at what and how best to use them, but I guess that is something you just learn over time.
At the moment while learning all there is to learn to have a chance to win I will be ok with just being in the lead breakaway when I can at the finish.
I have not done any mountains or cobbles yet so I have them to look forward to as well.
Once I have learnt enough too I will have a go at career mode, bit too scary for me at the moment.
