I saw that the game was put up on the PSN for download last night. I had to scour the internet to find a site that sold UK PSN codes (and then I found out this morning that the game will be available in the US on 7/2.) I waited for the code to be emailed to me, but I didn't get it until about 5 this morning. I bought and downloaded the game, and then tried looked through the teams before trying a stage. I loaded up the double climb of Alpe d'Huez to try the game before heading to work. The game feels so much better than years past. The controls have been moved around so you use the triggers to accelerate and brake. The L1 button changes gears, and the X still is the attack button. The thing that I have to get used to is that you have COMPLETE control over where your rider goes on the road. I hit the left stick hard to the right to move to the side of the peloton only to find myself almost in the ditch. Last year, if you jammed on the stick, your rider barely moved. This year, he moves freely from side to side based on how hard you press the stick. The overall feel of the game is great. It finally feels like I have control over the game, which makes the fact that the stages are shorter not seem to matter. Switching between riders or communicating with riders is going to have to take some getting used to. The wheel of riders comes up and takes up the majority of the screen, so make sure you are on a straightaway before pulling it up. The attacks seem more realistic, and the fact that you can control the ENTIRE stage makes it better so that the computer doesn't let your rider fall back into the peloton. Unfortunately, I didn't get to complete the stage because I had to go to work, but I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that this is the BEST TDF game on the consoles to date. The objectives for each team make the game have tons of replay value. The only complaint I had was that I saw the Garmin-Sharp objective of winning the points classification with Hesjedal instead of Farrar. That has got to be a mistake. Overall- 8/10 (10/10 compared to previous versions) |

You don't control your rider when that menu is up.
I enjoy this game. It's fun. Been playing the entire Tour with Europcar, and I just finished the Alp D'huez stage, which was hard. Going for the climbers jersey with Voeckler, and have had it since stage one. Currently 7th in GC, after three failed time trials, where one was a team time trial. The controls work great, and the gameplay is interesting. Downhills are very exploitable, as it's very easy to get 30+ seconds down long hills. You can also place your angle correctly in turns, bump the corner and not lose any speed, resulting in even more gains. That can backfire, though. Crashes do happen. Have yet to see a mass crash while I'm in the peloton, but plenty happened when I was attacking downhill and Saxo Tinkoff bank was chasing me.

I also liked how it seemed I gained back stamina quicker if I stayed directly behind another rider. I was able to attack a gap and recover quickly by sticking behind a rider, then using them to pull me up the mountain until I was ready to attack again. |

For me, BMC won it, and I ended about a minute behind. Probably not too bad, seeing as Europcar are very weak on time trials. It was a surprisingly nice experience, though. You are put in control of whoever is in first for your team on the stage at all times, setting the pace. I will probably try one again with a stronger TT-team.

If it is on the PSN store, I'm just going to buy it off that rather than wait for the disc copy

Definitely going to get it, where from depends on price. Undecided between Amazon, PSN or the shops. |

Tried the team time trial with Sky this time. That stuff is hard, lost with 30 seconds to Radioshack. Good thing I won in a break on the second stage, 3'21 ahead of the peloton with EBH, and finished 2nd on the 3rd stage, again in a break, with EBH, 40 or so seconds in front of the peloton. Breaks are easy to get in if you have a strong flat rider. EBH has 80 flat.

I played the first 2 stages of the tour last night with Garmin. Both stages, I attacked with Daniel Martin. The breakaway won the first stage. (Martin came in 4th) I ran out of energy in the last km, but so did everyone else from the break. It was the slowest sprint ever. The second stage, Martin took the polka dots lead by crossing every mountain in the lead of the break. The peloton caught the break with about 2km to go. I switched to Farrar. (I'm getting much quicker at that.) I mistimed the sprint by about a second, but that's all that was needed to miss out on winning the stage. I ended up in 3rd. I've still got to figure out if there is a way to build a sprint train on this game. In the coach section, it just tells you to latch onto another good sprinter. I also like the fact that you can hold R1 to follow behind another rider, but it doesn't seem to work when the other rider attacks or sprints. Maybe I just need to work on that. |

Just finished the TTT for the first time with sky.
I was 32" behind at the checkpoint, but then i understood how to do it, and after a fantastic last half i finished on 2nd place only 3 seconds behind BMC. |

I need help with a few of the Team Sky names
Is the third name down on the Name Editor list Gabriel Rasch.
Then I need Gerald Pomes, Richard Morte, Lionel Arrow.
Anyone know who are them, I am missing Geraint Thomas and Luke Rowe.

Tour de France 2013 actually sounds like an improvement. Is the mountain AI improved like the PC game?
Isn't the 1/5 scale annoying in mountain stages? I loved the 1/2 scale! |

The 1/5 scale is not annoying to me. In fact, I think I would like it better. It's nice to have the option to play the entire stage. I haven't played the earlier versions, but the fact that the entire stage is playable makes for interesting tactics on all the stages. I don't see how the scale would make much difference on mountain stages, as now you can ride all of them, instead of (guessing) just one or two.

I agree... The option to play the whole stage has made the game so much more fun to me. I've been able to initiate tactics to near perfection. Going into the fourth stage, I've got the KOM jersey secured on Martin, and as a bonus, he's also wearing green right now. (I know that won't last.) I really need to work on my TTT skills. Garmin-Sharp finished in 9th place... about 53 seconds back. I may need to look at changing the dynamic of my team. I found that Hesjedal and one of the other riders doing the bulk of the work. I think I need to add Zabriskie, and take out one of the other riders to give a better shot at the TTT. You said you figured it out... Do you have any pointers? |

Seems awesome, this game. Might buy it, as soon as the price drops a little bit, though
Someone who has it on ps3, how much memory does it require?

I bought the digital version on PS3, so it downloaded the entire game to the HDD. I believe it was about 4 or 5 GB. |
