I was wondering according to what are allocated the race invitations for both WT (wildcards) and CT races given the fact I play for PCT team.
Every time I tried to get invitation for a race on the beginning of the season, my request was turned down. However, I surprisingly got invitation for Volta a Catalunya, although I got just two spanish riders on team (Camaňo and De La Cruz) and no big results achieved (just couple of top 10 and 25).
However, when I requested invitation for some races which took part in August in July (at that time I had couple of serious results to my account and was ranked about 6th Continental), I was awarded wild card for Vatenfall Cyclassics and also got places in some continental races I requested.
My questions:
1. What I need to do in order to get invited to continental races?
2. What I need to do in order to get invited to Tirreno - Adriatico etc. races?
3. What I need to do in order to get invited to Ronde, P-R, G-Q, La Fleche etc.?
4. What I need to do in order to get invitation for a Grand Tour?
I thnik you probably have answered the questions yourself, you need results. Regarding races in the early part of the season, if the status of your team is low (lot of PCT with higher status) at the start of the season, it is a very low probability that you will be picked for those races.
1. If space left, you are very likely to get it.
2. 1st priority is nationality of the team, if there is still space left, then you will be very likely to get it
3. See 2
4. See 2 as well
Yeah, I know results are important but I wonder if there is some rule, algorythm or something. I noticed that in editor there are places in races awarded according to value "score" and those with lower score don't get invited.
So, supposedly there has to be some influence of:
1. Results and ranking in current season?
2. Number, quality and popularity of riders from the same country in which the race takes place? (like having good Belgians for Eneco Tour)
3. Having good riders with potential for the race? (like having Cancellara with PCT should assure you an invite, shouldn't it?)
4. Being a team from the same country in which the race takes place? (like awarding a wildcard to German team for Vatenfall cc?)

Well, there's space for 24 teams in a race and my invitations were turned down even if there were just 18 teams signed in.

1. Yes
2. I'm not sure. It might has something to do with it, but I'd say popularity more than number & quality.
3. No. None I think.
4. Yes, definitely. This one is by far the most important.
5. I think overall team quality has importance as well. Looking in the .cdb to sign in for a race I really wanted to ride got me convinced of that(Score of 'letting in' was quite close to the rating of the team in Dyn_Team)
And judging by that score of 'letting in' being there, I'm sure there's an algorythm. Not sure how it works though.
