Le Tour de l'Avenir - Stage 9
SportingNonsense
Ian Stannard took an early lead, beating Peter Kennaugh. Joseph Cooper went slightly quicker before Michael Ford set an impressive time of 35'35.

Ford is 132nd overall (Out of 144) and his lead held for a long time. Marcel Barth came closest at 35'43, but it was not until 11th overall Cornu finished that Ford was beaten.

Starting the day 14 seconds behind Abal, Cornu is chasing a top 10 spot in the GC but Abal was a strong 2nd, 8 seconds down, to keep his top 10 spot. 8th Overall Kolesnikov was now in danger of falling behind them both, but he rode an impressive ride for his standards and will remain 8th overall.

Uran put in a disappointing time, and then Dmitri Grabovski took 3rd. Tiago Machado is a weak timetrialer and lost over a minute, the next man in is World U23 TT Champion, Lars Boom.

Seen riding up the 18% incline inside the final kilometre, before he took the lead by 10 seconds.

Benat Intxausti came in 3rd while 23rd is a decent effort for Vitor Rodrigues, losing just under a minute on Boom, he will slip to 5th in the GC. Aleksandr Pluchkin went 5th, doing enought to keep 2nd in the GC before Robert Gesink came in for stage win number 4.
