The concept is fairly simple - a fantasy league set in the year 2020.
I initially created the league for personal use. But I thought it would be a lot more enjoyable to let the league become more community driven!
Thus, 16 volunteers took their place at the helm of each of the teams. As manager, they will select race plans, interact with the "media", and complete transfer dealings at the end of each season. They might be faced with a surprise or two along the way as well!
Well, I hope you all enjoy the league, whether it be as a manager or just a fan!
Mr Pfan

Extra Reserve.
Feel free to discuss the game with other managers, ask questions, interact with the "media" on behalf of your team.
Racing should begin within the next couple of days.
Good luck!

I will ask the Million dollar question then, Do we get to see the stats?
Also, how can we interact with the media? Do we just post what we want as long as it is relevant? |

No.
And yes, basically.

I think it's more interesting without the stats. Makes things a bit different to normality. I guess it's sorta like real-life, where a scout gives you a rough outline of a rider's abilities, and u can use that in conjunction with their results to decide whether they are a good addition to the team.
If it doesn't work out, things can always change next season. |

Let's keep getting the race planners in guys! I've got 7 so far.
The racing can start, as soon as the planners are in!
Also, Alka-TDC is still available for anyone who still wants to join, but otherwise I'll take control of Alka if no-one is interested. |

and Mountains, Time Trials, Hills and Sprints... oh wait thats everything made difficult...
for example Bouhanni is a 4* sprinter, all-round. Dafuq does that mean! 70+ Mo HL and CB? 80+ SP? who knows!
Not that it's a problem for me, just send him everywhere thats classed as flat

Okay I'll break the cobbles-mould down a little then:
On the whole, "Classics" riders are the guys for the cobbles. If I described the rider as like Vansummeren or Ballan, they're especially suited for Paris-Roubaix for example.
Otherwise the rider is more interested in riding hilly classics, but they'll still do better on the cobbles than most, especially the Tour of Flanders.
Sprinters are an ok bet for support on the cobbles too.
If this information makes anyone who has already sent in their race planner want to change their cobbles squads (Gent-Wevelgem, Paris-Roubaix, Tour of Flanders, Tour of Belgium), then you can do so. |

Based on that then, it sounds like a lot of races may end up being a lottery......where's my lucky horseshoe! |

Nacer Bouhanni:
Well-rounded sprinter, not a pure all-rounder. So he can brave the mighty speedbumps of Giro flat-stages better than most fastmen
If it's unclear, then as a whole:
Climber - Anything upward. Use riding type to distinguish between puncheurs and grimpeurs.
Time Trials - No pure time-trialists are in the game, since I did that with another league and they became virtually useless. So the best time trialists come from the Tour riders and Classics riders (think Cancellara). |

NEWSFLASH: RACING TO BEGIN
It's been the best part of 48 hours for (most) of the managers to return their planner but I'm still waiting on 6 of them.
I want to at least get the pre-season (January) under way so the game doesn't stagnate in the meantime.
So, the plan is: anyone who doesn't send in their planner by 19:00 GMT today (about 5 and a half hours from now) will have their team for the Down Under Classic automatically chosen, and racing should begin later today.
Don't worry if you miss the deadline, I realise life can busy at times! You can still send in your planner at any time after this - it's just that your team will continue to be auto-chosen for you until then. |
