How does a rider's fighter stat affect the rider? Also, what stats are raised if you train a rider as a fighter

You raise every stat except Mountain, if I remember and the Fighter stat changes the behavior of AI: higher stat, he gets in more breakaways

Disputed. Some believe that it effects when people will attack as well as how often (higher stat, later attacks).
I am also convinced it will have some impact on all riders, even those being controlled (even cyanide won't be dumb enough to include a stat with no impact on the player)

I believe a fighter stat also helps in a sprint of a small group, eg in a break fighting for the stage win

You can use the forum search for such questions.
For example this one is about the training effects: https://www.pcmdai...d_id=14445 |

From tests(I believe it was properly tested, for example one was in a topic of CosmicOsmo), it seems that the fighter stat has only influence on 1 thing:
- How much AI riders attack later on the stage. (So not early breakaway).
This seems true: I see guys like Voeckler, Pirazzi, De Gendt etc. attack more often later on a stage than f.e. Larsson, Rogers, Morabito, Menchov, Talansky, who have a low fighter stat, and almost don't attack at all(later on the stage).

In mountain stages I see a lot of breakaways with riders f.e. Cavendish, Farrar, Appollonio, Swift, Nizzolo, Greipel. (At least, in PCM 11. Don't know it about PCM 12)

Early breakaways or attacks with f.e. 20km to go?

Yeah, as said, the FTR stat doesn't make any difference for early breakaways, only for late attacks.

My work with stat influences agrees with several of the comments on here, the stat seems to actually have no ability adjustments, it just causes the riders with a higher stat to attack more often in the late stages of a race. Voekler, Voigt, Chavanel almost always put a attack in near the end of a stage.

An odd characteristic of the FTR stat is that it is the only attribute excluded from the list of progress potential for riders (the section with progress potential stars).
It's just guess work, but that indicates to me that the attribute is an exceptional one. |

The fighter stat is interesting in the fact that it only affects breakaway performance. The fighter stat boosts how much energy is expended late in the break. A rider like Cav will be caught because he cannot keep a late pace with his low FTR. Voeckler, however, will keep pace deep into the closing kilometers due to the high FTR. The AI attacks with mid-high FTRs because the AI knows how this stat will affect late breaks.

Can you back up this with test results?
I still believe it has 0 effect on energy bars. Only on AI, and there it defines how much late attacks a rider placed on average. And it seems to be right, Voeckler, LL Sanchez, Contador etc. seem to place more late(so not early breakaway) attacks than say, Rogers or Froome.

I disagree based upon experience. I can make a 50FTR last very well in the closing 20km of a flat stage because he has high ACC, RES and FL stats. An 80FTR will last equally well with the same ACC, RES and FL stats.
I reference Roux from my live stream yesterday who lasted better in the closing KM's than Ladagnous who has a higher FTR stat.

OK, I just have my experience, so I can't base it on evidence.

Well, it's proven that the fighter stat doesn't work that way, although it'd make sense if it did |

I wonder if it will be fixed for 13?
