The sprinters have had their fun for this race now, as it is time to sort out the overall with the two decisive final stages. After today, we'll know how much time the pure climbers need to gain tomorrow.
Having lost contact with the peloton in the final kilometers yesterday to prepare for this stage, Kristof Goddaert comes home with the early best time.
28'04 put him almost two minutes clear of everyone else at the time.
Goddaert's moment of glory becomes short however, due to Flens also starting early after yesterday's unexpected time loss.
After taking the lead by one and two seconds at the checkpoints, the Dutchman arrives at the finish to take a three-second lead.
Next notable timetriallist to hit the course is Sebright, who has been saving the legs at the back of the field on all stages up till today. His preparations doesn't seem to have helped much though, as he can't match any of the two earlier favourites and concedes 23 seconds to Flens.
Ekspla-Cision have enjoyed a successful race so far with Saramotins, but his team mate Mockus can't compete with the top names today.
A time of 28'38 is enough for a provisional 4th place.
Jeremy Vennell goes one second better and pushes Mockus down to fifth.
More changes at the top of the standings board, as Bret crosses the line in 28'16 - third quickest so far.
Expected to be Westra's key domestique tomorrow and possibly even go for a result of his own, Vadim Shekhov loses 39 seconds to Flens today, putting him ahead of basically all the puncheurs ahead of tomorrow.
Other superdomestique Kevin Lalouette notes an even stronger time and also starts to look like a threat for the overall now. On the stage, he goes into 4th with 28'17.
Logan Hutchings was one of the top timetriallists in last year's division 2, but can't reach those results anymore in a stronger field like this.
28'31 means a loss of 30 seconds to Flens today.
And here comes the man everyone has been hyping as the huge favourite for the overall: Westra. His team mates have gone very well today, so can the Dutchman reflect that?
27'58
Already asserting his dominance, rolling home to take the lead from Flens with the first time under 28 minutes. This doesn't bode very well for the other puncheurs like Ilias, who even gets caught by Westra.
Due to mostly TT-hating sprinters remaining, the stage winner is already decided then. Remains to be seen if Westra takes the race lead as well.
Sticking out from a number of weak times is Hansen, who shocks the public with an excellent time of 28'23 - matching Sebright, for example.
None of the following riders manage to hold off Westra either, leaving only the red jersey of Abakoumov. His team wont get two consecutive stage wins, but can they at least keep the jersey?
Not even close. Already at the first checkpoint, the Belgian has lost the 48 seconds of advantage he had at the start of today. The total loss clocks in at 2'09, causing him to crash down to 30th in the GC.
A disappointing day for Die Berg, but a great one for Gazelle, who takes another step towards the CTour title.
Anyway, stage win and race lead for Westra, who leads Bret by 18 seconds and his team mate Lalouette by 19. Doubtful if anyone will be able to take this race away from him.
