After yesterdays GC changing stage we have another chance for the sprinters. In fact the last 3 stages will all be flat stages, so that the GC riders can hope for no changes in the classement.
3 riders in todays breakaway. No Hugentobler there, who leads in the KoM ranking even though todays stage will give lots of points.
Therefore his teammate Kung together with Vassdal and Seo.
Rocchetti lost the lead so his Evian team is no longer doing the early pace.
Instead Team Gazelle is sending one rider as also the three sprinter teams, who decided to work early today.
The sprint is no important for the group and so Seo is just riding over the line ahead of Vassdal and Kung.
Neither in the GC nor in the point ranking any of them has any goals.
More important now the King of the Mountain sprint.
As mentioned Hugentobler is not in the breakaway, so Vassdall and Seo, who both already have scored on previous stages, could close the gap here.
But once again Sauber Petronas is having a good tactic and so Kung takes the maximum points ahead of Seo and Vassdal.
Same situation on the Cat.3. Kung is fighting to beat Seo on the line to take the maximum of 6 points. Vassdal once again coming over the line as 3rd.
The peloton constantly gained time on the breakaway and so with 8km to go they are caught.
Kung will be 2nd in the KoM behind his teammate Hugentobler now and is rewarded for his effort a bit.
Suray Hoelgaard Muderra Havik Vorganov Thorsen Maksimov Friedman Morales Hochmann Nardin Petit Guillén Giacoppo Awang Drapac
The sprint preparations starts and Privatbank and Allianz surely the strongest trains at the moment.
Guillén`s train somehow is totally out of control and so it doesn`t look good for them.
Havik is taking over and makes a very good leadout for Thorsen.
Vorganov realizes this quickly and takes the position behind those duo wit Maksimov still behind.
Banco Nacionale probably without any chances today as their train is still not 100% formed.
With 500m Maksimov and Thorsen leave their trains and go into the lead.
Behind them Friedman and Hochmann in a very good position but also Gavazzi, Torckler and Guillen coming closer.
Dominant win for Maksimov and already his 2nd here, which also will give him the point jersey.
Hochmann had the best position behind him and is pulled to the 2nd today, which is his best result so far ahead of Thorsen, who could prove his strength today, even after the lengths and some climbs.
Guillén only finished as 4th today. His speed was enough to limit the loss but then again better positioning could have brought him the 2nd win.
Friedman as 5th ahead of Awang, Siskevicius, Nardin, Petit and torckler to complete the top10.
Drapac, who was very consistent so far had a weaker day as 16th only.
