Stage 4 in Southland and the 2nd of 6 sprinter stages. With 87km it`s almost half the length of yesterdays sprint opener and also the only Cat.4 is easier here.
Favourites are again Maksimov, Guillén and eventually Thorsen.
Also Drapac and Giacoppo showed good form yesterday and must be watched.
Delgerbayar with a solo ride today. No one wanted to join him and so he can show his jersey a lot today.
Delgerbayar is no real danger as he is already 2'51 behind. Still Evian is taking care, that the gap doesn`t widen too far. So it`s always about 3min.
With 31km and still a constant gap of 2'30 the sprinter teams come to the front. They need to hurry up now as Delgerbayar surely has some reserves due to the short length.
Good sign that Gomenyuk seems to feel a bit better. He won`t make the greatest leadouts at the moment but at least he can do the pace for Maksimov.
Delgerbayar easily gets the 5 points at the KoM. Behind some riders attack out of the peloton. Seo takes 3 points and outsprints KoM leader Hugentobler, who at least takes another point ahead of Kochetkov, who won`t get any more points today.
This trio doesn`t slow down due to the short distance to the finish (25km) and continue to attack. Soon they join Delgerbayer and have a 46s gap with 20km to go.
But no chance. 5km later they are all caught and so everything looks like another sprint.
Only two trains today and surprisingly no Privatbank train even though they did really great yesterday. So it`s only Guillén and Thorsen with solid leadout against the rest.
Kopp Morales Guillén Suray Drapac Havik Friedman Thorsen Awang Hochmann Torckler Giacoppo
Finally a sign of the Privatbank train, who got a bit blocked behind the Ekspla duo Gavazzi and Porsev.
Not the best situation as the sprint will start soon and Maksimov needs to go a far longer way.
Hoelgaard is doing a nice job bringing him to the front again. He is already equal to Thorsen, who lost contact to his leadout Havik.
At the moment a perfect situation for the better placed Guillén, Drapac, Friedman, Awang and Hochmann.
800m left and Guillén and Drapac start the sprint at the same time. Friedman is directly behind them, while Maksimov and Thorsen are only in ~12th position but still having a teammate in front of them.
Very close sprint with Guillén and Drapac on one line with Friedman, Awang, Hochmann and Giacoppo still having chances.
But it is Guillén keeping a small lead to win his first stage in 2013.
Drapac again 2nd ahead of Friedman, who climbs onto the 9th in the GC this way. He could become really dangerous if he can continue to collect bonus seconds.
Drapac as most consistent sprinter so far is rewarded with the point jersey.
After yesterdays quite disappointing sprint Hochmann proves his skills as 4th today ahead of Awang and Gavazzi.
Giacoppo as 7th still ahead of the bad placed Thorsen and Maksimov.
Torckler to complete the top 10 today.
